General Summary

With The Tomb of Horrors behind them, the party finds themselves rallying soldiers from anyone they can trust.

Question

 

The quest is over, and you have downtime. What does your character do when apart from the party?

Lostin has never been a book worm but he has shown interest in the workings or locations in the planes. When not actively working with the party Lostin splits his time researching then scouting locations for "train depos." His plan is that once the adventuring is done (which let's face it, for Loston it never will) he wasn't his little transport company to have some dedicated and useful ports-of-call in the prime and the planes. I mean if you can't be the universe's most talked about hero then at least make a name in transport/smuggling.   Seom Rando usually spends his downtown weapons training and pursuing sexual adventures in local taverns. This ritual lasts for a couple of months at which time he will invariably get bored and look for something a bit more dangerous and exciting, like raiding a local baron's keep or hunting for gold in some long lost tombs. The last time Rando was in this situation, the Doorkickers party found him by chance in some plane of Hell. Needless to say, these adventures can be pretty unpredictable and lead to great treasures, which in turn leads to more downtime and boredom. May the cycle never end.   When Rodger is apart from the party, he continues to make a big show of how hard-hearted he's become; as a big shot adventurer and bounty hunter collecting gold and tools for his upcoming final gambit.But when he's alone, he prays. He prays day and night, before every meal and after every enemy slain. He prays harder than he's ever prayed before to the Wildmother, and her other aspects of nature (in particular, The Sea. An aspect he's well acquainted with) to protect his daughter. To spirit her home, to calm her violent spirit, to let her live happily and peacefully long after he's breathed his last.For his sacrifices to mean anything, for the suffering he endured leaving Acheron to mean anything; he just wants his daughter to be safe.Let her open an adventurer's guild on a prime somewhere, let her slay trolls and bandits until her hair turns silver like her old man's and she can retire with her own legacy to look after.But by all the gods willing and able, don't let her die in a ditch fighting the god damn Blood War. A war that can't be won. That shouldn't be won.Please.Amen.   Sambra went back to his homeland to visit his family and check to see how the land has been after the flood waters had receded. Obviously, the wish spells that were cast had unintended consequences and he feels responsible to fix what he could. Other than this, he visited his old blade master at the wizard guild to see if everyone was still doing well.   Most importantly, he was researching how to utilize and harness the power of the celestials to recreate the powerful bubble that prevents plane shifting. He feels that this will be important to defeating Gazra and his minions.   Miles has spent his year wandering sanguera helping where he can. Creating food and water and healing diseased and injuired people. He feels that this will be important to defeating Gazra and his minions.     Ark would most likely while away from everyone would spend some necessary time catching up and possibly rekindling some long attended feelings towards his old friend Elena Starseed, as well as spread good deeds sheltering and reestablishing normalcy for the people displaced from the flooding his parents were partially responsible for bringing to the land, even if for some twisted sense of greater purpose.

Synopsis

The evening started slow as the characters mulled over the list they made last session with little context of what they would have to do. One question looms in their monds now, how could the DM forget Pteri? The group chooses to head to The Southlands, and see if they can muster up some troop from the city of Per-Bastet. Meeting with the Reborn Queen-Goddess Meskhenit. Meskhenit suggests The Doorkickers were working with Asher Hallow-Blossom to flood the world, an accusation heard before. After explaining the situation and the grave future in store for Sanguera, the Queen offers the group a chance to redeem themselves in her eyes, by heading off a drug smuggler before they can get into Per-Bastet.   The drugs were coming in armored vehicles by road from the north, the only path through the mountains. The party knew the dealers, Kong and his bunch of primates. An ambush was set, a blizzard summoned, and a force wall readied. There was no contest, the lead vehicle smashed into the wall and the two scout vehicles were shot into the air by Ark's magic. Every monkey was killed.   Not finding any drugs, the party wanted to know more. So Miles brought one back to life. Then the other four. The gang of four explained that they were only trying to get Kamiyama set up in Per-Bastet, a sublety Rodger picked up on. The primates asked for a ride home and got high on a flying train, oh what stories they have to tell.   In the jungle to the north the group met with Kong and hatched a plan to play both side, Kamiyama was teleported into Per-Bastet and the shipment was stopped. The Doorkickers now had two companies infantry, one company from Per-Baset and one from Kong.   Finally, at the end, Pteri showed up and dropped her knowledge on the party (see below).
