The San Francisco Partnership was formed in 1995 by four business executives who sensed no group was focused on reversing a job loss trend: Donald Fisher, chairman of The Gap; Jay Cahill, president of Cahill Contractors Inc.; John Larson, chairman of the San Francisco law firm of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison; and Rhea Serpan, president of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. Fisher, hosting a reception Wednesday at which the promotional materials were displayed, said firms doing business in San Francisco had donated nearly $1 million over a five-year period for the partnership's activities. Having recently been wooed by Tennessee and Georgia, both hoping The Gap would locate a distribution center in their state, Fisher has seen first-hand aggressive marketing. For the record, The Gap chose Nashville.
