Markus V

Markus V "the Bad" was the eldest son of Calien V ("the Tolerant") and - as many of the early Weldic monarchs in the Age of the Creator - grew up responding to his father's rule. Calien himself had reacted against his father's vigorous, almost austere, programme of rebuilding Weldmere by relaxing at court and enjoying life. In turn, Markus reacted to the glamour and tolerance of his father's court by seeking glory - and a means to impress the fawning, but indolent, courtiers and nobles. What is more, he combined this with a study of powerful magics, particularly the Accursed Skull. 
As King, therefore, he combined military adventurism with great personal evil and (some have suggested) possession by the Accursed Ones.
