Session IV: Upstairs, downstairs, seeing the Council
General Summary
(22nd Patchwall) Our heroes explored the upper story of the "Haunted" house, and decided the damage might not be too bad, and they could all move out here!
They returned to the cellar, where they unbarred the door from the smugglers' bunkroom. That led to a battle with 7 skeletons, one of them able to cast spells! Some more spellbooks were uncovered for Lyra.
They made sure to return to town in time for supper and the Council meeting.
The party formally reported their findings and arrests at the Haunted House, for which the Council thanked them, and rewarded them.
The Watch reported on the riot and jailbreak, and sentence was passed on the smugglers and their accomplices-- varying amounts of hard labor on the King's road gangs.
Several escaped slaves reported their escape. They had originally come from the area around Seaton, and had been taken to work on a plantation on an island a few days to the south. This was believed to be another crime by the Sea Princes.
Some complaints were made regarding the turncoat inside the Town Guard, but this turned into an angry debate, as the prisoner Ned Shakeshaft seemed to implicate Gellan Primewater as involved in the smuggling operation. He furiously denied it, and the Council could not come to a resolution to arrest him, mostly for lack of other evidence.
Various rewards were doled out to the group, and they resolved to invest most of their money into buying and refurbishing the Haunted house.
Captain Eliander Fireborn said that he was very proud of Eliandra , and promoted her to Corporal in the Watch. Two Watchers were assigned to her for the time being.
