Changelings

Adult Changelings have excellent control over their ability to shift. Children...not so much. People probably saw wildly shifting children with seemingly normal parents and assumed that the kids had been replaced by a demon or something. The usual nonsense.

While collectively referred to by the Settlers as the "Changelings," these beings are too diverse to be considered a true race or ethnicity. The group consists of a number of different species that share similar magical abilities: the power to shift between the form of a human and of one or more other creatures. Dragons, wyverns, werecats, and selkies all fit into this category.
