Muma-oni
Basic Information
Anatomy
Muma-oni always appear as beautiful representations of their parent or origin species. They are frequently well, or over-endowed with the sexual characteristics of that species. They are frequently possessed of wings, horns, and sometimes tails, or strange eyes which distinguish them, although they can use a natural ability to appear in any way they please which the people around them could find enticing and often hide these traits.
In their most natural form they resemble slender Yama-oni, being either red, blue, or purple-skinned, with horns of darker colors and wings which facilitate their movement even while hidden.
Biological Traits
Muma-oni are strong, but not uncommonly so. They possess the ability to fly, facilitated by wings, and the quasi-magical ability to lure or entice their prey through visual, audible, and magical compulsion. A muma-oni that is slain will sometimes revive if their body is not completely destroyed, although given their nature the willpower required to fully destroy a muma-oni makes this rare. A muma-oni is not directly deadly, poisonous, or particularly harmful; they are dangerous only for their ability to engender obsessive lust.
Genetics and Reproduction
Muma-oni do not naturally reproduce and are instead positioned in the sixth circle of reincarnation, being Oni. As all Oni, they are usually the reincarnations of particularly wicked mortals who have been cast into Jigoku to serve penance for their shortcomings in life.
Ecology and Habitats
Muma-oni, like most oni, are native to the plane of Jigoku and only occasionally venture out into the mortal world for sustenance or for some specific purpose.
They are most commonly found in the Hell of Glass Trees, where they appear as irresistibly beautiful women sitting in the boughs of trees whose branches and leaves are made of razor-sharp glass. They beckon the subject of their attention onwards, cajoling and enticing them, enchanting the sinner until they can no longer resist the urge to pursue them. Once the object of their torture reaches the top of the tree, having been shredded by the sharp leaves, they appear instead at the base of the tree and the sinner must climb all the way back down, flaying himself in the process, but unable to resist the muma-oni's call.
It is, admittedly, rather an unpleasant thing to watch, but apparently highly amusing to most muma-oni.
Dietary Needs and Habits
A muma-oni subsists, much like the western succubus or incubus, on the carnal desires and acts of the people they interact with. They are known to invade the dreams of mortals to tempt them with carnal desire, feeding on their lust both spiritually and emotionally.
Habitually, therefore, muma-oni are frequently observed to dress like absolute sluts, conduct themselves in lascivious manner, and generally make nuisances of themselves in that way.
A muma-oni can consume food, drink, and take material sustenance as any mortal creature might, but has the extra necessity of requiring a steady supply of lust to properly function. They are different from the common succubus in that this necessity need not be accomplished through the actual act of sex - being the object of lust and desire is enough, as the desire is what feeds them rather than bodily fluids. They are creatures of enticement, purpose-made to drive men insane, and their diet reflects this.
A muma-oni who finds herself the object of obsessive devotion, regardless of whether those lustful fantasies are ever accomplished, is a well fed muma-oni.
Biological Cycle
Muma-oni do not age. Much like the souls that they are responsible for torturing, they are given a certain amount of time within their existence to perform the functions for which they are created before returning to the Wheel, and being reincarnated in another, higher form.
Barring unnatural death this is usually something like two thousand years.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
Rumor has it that you could use the bodily fluids of a muma-oni to reproduce a balm, salve, or perfume, that would have a similar affect to their magic.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Most commonly found in the Hell of Glass Trees
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Muma-oni are typically possessed of all five common senses, with the addition of a sixth sense which allows them to perceive individuals who have committed sexual offenses.
They are able to use this sixth sense to influence the dreams and sometimes the waking minds of their victims - and make no mistake, the men (and women) who end up pursued by muma-oni are victims. Once a muma-oni has her hooks in a person, the desire for her has the potential to become obsessive and all-consuming. This is speculated to be a quasi-magical olfactory ability rather than something the muma-oni performs consciously.
They also possess an innate sense of a person's karma, and when in one of the planes of Jigoku they are naturally drawn to individuals who are being punished for sexual misconduct, to include abuse, rape, and sexual exploitation. In essence, these individuals are their 'prey'. To a lesser extent they can also sense these qualities in a living individual in the creative world.
Civilization and Culture
Gender Ideals
Muma-oni do not usually employ half measures when it comes to their genders; finding a muma-oni who doesn't strongly embrace whatever gender identity they possess to the extreme is somewhat rare. Although muma-oni can often be men, women, or hermaphroditic in some way, gender-ambiguous or asexual muma-oni are so rare they are thought not to exist.
