Cymere

Cymere is a light-blue crystalline substance that can be found in the islands of Saekai. It is a powerful conduit of magic; small crystals can produce powerful magic, even in the hands of the rudest barbarian, while larger crystals contain enough power to allow one man to take on a battalion of soldiers, if not an army. Thanks to this power, Cymere is incredibly highly sought-after.
Cymere is a seemingly natural occurrence, although there is no rhyme nor reason to where they appear. Cymere is sometimes found in caves or mines where one would expect to find crystals, but they can also be found washed up on beaches after high tide, in the mud of bogs, or even wedged in the bark of trees. These Cymere Crystals weigh between 5 and 150 grams, with the smallest ones being about the size of a man's thumbnail. Large, static deposits of Cymere are referred to as Cymere Outcrops instead.
