Material and Motivation

Material and Motivation are the two building blocks of the universe. Material is matter, made up of elemental atoms. Motivation consists of scientific forms of energy, such as light or sound, as well as sentient functions like loyalty, memories, or emotions. By controlling ("manipulating") these, one can shape the universe to his or her will.

Material Manipulation

Material can be configured at any level, from changing the elements of existing atoms to simply controlling existing formations. The vision most commonly associated with this is creating an item instantaneously out of thin air, but this is rarely true.
Morphing an item (simply changing the shape of a preexisting item) takes time, as each individual molecule must be moved into the desired shape (this takes an experienced Astrolon a trivial amount of time for each molecule, but it can still add up to a minute or two for a small item).
Creating an item is more complicated, as nuclear fusion and fission is required to change the elemental makeup of atoms. This creates explosions that are harmful to most mortals, which limits their ability to perform this power. It also takes more time to create an object than morph one, explaining the slow creation process of most planets and astral bodies.

Creation and Destruction

Matter can be destroyed through the introduction of anti-matter. The masses of both are converted into energy (likely heat and radiant energy).

Motivational Manipulation

Motivation includes that of the natural universe (known specifically as energy), and that of living beings (known collectively as a soul). The soul of a living being determines its free will. Because of this, controlling it is a very sensitive matter, and if the victim regains its will and remembers its plight, it could make them extremely upset.

Astrolons and Material Manipulation

All Astrolons can manipulate material, though they perform it to varying degrees. Alnii is well-known for being among the most talented, and could hypothetically bend any part of the universe to his will. Meanwhile, the Maiden Harmony's abilities are yet to be publicly used, which leads some scholars to suggest that she may not be as talented.

Gods and Manipulation

Three of the gods - Mohhi-Shee, Seeraz, and Dinzek - have divine powers based around Motivational Manipulation. This allows them to manipulate the loyalties, memories, and emotions of mortals, respectively.
On the other hand, Vetris's divine power involves Material Manipulation. While not nearly as precise or versatile as the Astrolons hold, it is easy to see how powerful such a power can be in her grasp.
