Vekornan

Vekorna (singular: vekornan) are one of several species that inhabit Rykol. They are approximately 3m tall, and have two legs, two arms and two extra limbs that are sometimes used as arms ("lower arms") and sometimes as legs ("upper legs"). They have blue armored skin, but wear additional protective armor to prevent it drying out in Rykol's harsh sunlight.
The distinct silver mask protects their sensor head. The sensor head has five faces, four of which contain tiny sensing organs that allow them to communicate telepathically to others. The forward face contains three pairs of rows of eye-stalks, which can extend and retract independently. Acoustic sensors are centered at the ridged edge of each face, while a vocalizer is embedded near the center of the forward face only.
Tiny black dots on the five faces of their sensor heads allow vekorna to communicate by telepathy, able to read the thoughts of most beings and project their thoughts into either a single person or multiple recipients at once. Range varies by vekornan, however tigal-en have the ability to project their thoughts over hundreds of kilometers.
The vekorna are offshoots of the original soraen race, which split into warring veks and Kolbs by their fifth generation. The original species had wings that allowed them a controlled descent from heights, and gave them stability otherwise. A vekornan could use the wings for propulsion in zero-gravity. The winged wars brought an end to the winged vekorna.
When their sun Alpro became unstable and flared in heat and brightness, the wingless veks hid in ancient caves and tunnels for three generations, and when they reemerged, they took a new name, vekorna.
The vekorna build spacegoing extars, knowing that Rykol would become unliveable if Alpro flared again. Searching for a new homeworld, they discovered Earth instead, and brought a representative sample of its intelligent species back with them.
Intrigued by humanity, the vekornan leader sent six fleets of spacecraft to Earth, traveling at different percentages of the speed of light, such that they would arrive at different points in Earth's future. They then inverted their speeds relative to one another, such that they would arrive at the same time back on Rykol.
The fleets picked up a single Earth ship each, in order: Avenger, Kamsar, Kirek, Alnevar and Siberath. The sixth fleet never returned.
