BUILD YOUR OWN WORLD Like what you see? Become the Master of your own Universe!

One Page Brief

General Stuff:

Will probably start campaign at Level 3. Also thinking that I will let everyone start with a feat.

Classes and Subclasses:

All classes are available for use. Most subclasses from PHB, XGE, TCE, and other books are allowed. Full list can be seen at Classes.
  • Rangers get additional spells for each of their subclasses in the Player's Handbook.
  • Sorcerers get additional spells for each of their subclasses before Tasha's Cauldron of Everything.
  • Warlocks have some adjustments that move a small part of level 1 Hexblade Hex Warrior to the Warlock Pact of the Blade boon.

  • Races:

    • Human: Most humanoid races aren't canon in Runeterra, but your basic humans are everywhere. Just uses base human from PHB.
    • Vastayan: Chimeric demi-humans with a connection to magic. Most have some sort of magical innate ability from shapeshifting to magical resistances or more. Reskinned races from other books including Leonin, Triton, Satyr, Eladrin (Elf), Shifter.
    • Yordle: Kind of like halflings or gnomes but more anthropomorphic. Reskinned from Gnome, Goblin, and Dwarf.
    • Ascended/Darkin-Born: Descendants of ancient god-warriors. Reskinned from Aasimar and Tiefling.
    • Augmented-Humans and Golems: Humans with hextech augmentations from Piltover/Zaun and sentient rune golems. Reskinned Warforged.
    • Buhru: Reptilian humanoids from the Serpent Isles. Reskinned Lizardfolk from Volo's Guide to Monsters.
    • Dragonborn: Humanoids with a draconic influence. Humans of Ixtal long ago made a pact to become closer to the dragons they worshipped. Used Explorer's Guide to Wildmount variant of Dragonborn for this.
    • Troll-kin: "Civilized" cousins of trolls that hail from villages in the frozen Freljord. Reskinned Golaith.
    • Ironback: Tortoise-like humanoids with a thick shell. Just Tortles.
    • Minotaur: Bovine humanoids that are made for battle. Minotaur from Mythic Odysseys of Theros.
    • Mist-Touched: Those that have survived harrowings and came back changed. Based on Reborn from Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft.
More info to be seen at Races .

    Languages:

Most places in Runeterra know and use Common for communications and transactions. However, some areas have specific languages or dialects that they also use.
    • Common Languages: Common, Ionian, Ixtali, Northspeak, Noxian, Shuriman, Valerian
    • Exotic Languages: Abyssal, Buhru, Celestial, Deep Speech, Draconic, Minotaur, Primordial, Vastayan, Void, Yeti, Yordle

    Regions:

The regions of Runeterra are what allow the lore of the world to be as diverse and expansive as it is. The region your character hails from will likely shape how your character sees the world and interacts with others. Keep this in mind while building your character.

    • Bilgewater: Bilgewater is a port city nestled off the east coast of the main continent on the Blue Flame Isles, and is home to serpent hunters, dock gangs, and smugglers from across the world. The inhabitants of Bilgewater care none of the lives of those they share the street with, which makes it a great place for new beginnings. However, Bilgewater is not for the faint of heart or gullible, being a lawless place, the faces of those you meet could very well be masks meant to hide their true intentions.

    • Demacia: Demacia is a nation renowned for its prestigious military history, but is also infamous for it’s prejudice against magic. It’s people value the ideals of justice, honor, and duty the most. It has grown increasingly isolationist in recent years as conflicts between conservative anti-magic factions and magic-tolerant factions heat up.

    • The Freljord: The Freljord is a harsh, unforgiving land in the North of Valoran. With most of it plagued by a near eternal winter, only the strongest can survive in the Freljord. The nomadic tribes of The Freljord are forever divided as they vie for dominance of the scarce resources. Proper "towns" are rare, but there is one bustling city at the center of the Avarosan confederacy.

    • Ionia: Ionia is a nation off the coast of the mainland comprised of many islands. Ionia is defined by their pursuit of balance, that all things have a counterpart and that all things work in harmony. Ionia currently is still recovering from their long war with Noxus, and stands in an uneasy peace.

    • Ixtal: Hidden in the depths of the jungles, Ixtal is infamous for their millennia of violently enforced isolationism. However, they have begun to allow visitors in the last century, surprising visitors with their advanced city pyramids that are nearly self-sufficient. They have come to be even more known for their mastery over elemental magics, inspiring some knowledge hungry sages to attempt entry into their arcology cities. Their people were once humans who long ago made a pact with dragons to alter themselves in their likeness: the creation of the dragonborn.

    • Noxus: Noxus is a hyper-militaristic society where strength rules above all else. They are seen as an expansionist, violent people by other societies. Anyone in Noxus can rise to power no matter who they are, given they prove themselves and show the strength to claim it. Most of their neighbors hate them.

    • Piltover & Zaun: Piltover & Zaun are two technologically advanced city-states who control the major trade routes between Valoran and Shurima. The cause of this technological revolution was the development of Hextech, an efficient method of enchanting items using special crystals. Piltover is a massive, wealthy city; and tons of ships pass through its docks every day. By contrast, Zaun is the polluted undercity beneath Piltover, home to a thriving black market, chemtech (unstable hextech alternative), and mechanical augmentation. The two cities, once united, are now two separate, symbiotic cultures.

    • Shurima: Once a great desert civilization thought to be long forgotten with the passing of time, Shurima has very recently begun its resurfacing due to the resurrection of Azir, the empire's once dead Ascended emperor. Shurima is still early in it’s return to power, but life is beginning to return to the once desolate desert.

    • Targon: Beyond the desert sands of Shurima lies Targon. Targon is home to the Rakkor, a collection nomadic tribes with an intense warrior culture. Two largest factions compete over worship of the Sun and worship of the Moon. Also considered to be the place on Runeterra closest to the Celestial Realm.
Commonly known world lore? Maybe later.
