Vestals

Vestals, priestesses sworn to celibacy, are raised in temples to Lucerna without knowledge of their parentage in order to maintain unbiased adherence to the tenets of Her worship and the duties of the temple, from mediating disputes, tending sacred pyres, preaching and giving counsel to the faithful, and investigating accusations of corruption.   In the past, the Temple of Lucerna maintained the practice of requiring daughters of the more wealthy families to be given to the Temple at birth, used to restrict the size and power of any individual family. Families affected in this way made sacrifices to ensure the Temple and the Vestals were well cared for and well protected, as an effort to care for their children from a distance. The increased care for the Vestals makes the Temple an attractive choice for poorer families who cannot afford to feed their own children. In this way, the followers of Lucerna remain a revered and relevant aspect of the Regalia's society on many levels, empowered as a self-perpetuating mechanic for social equity.   Vestals wear pale grey robes, and while they are not required to adhere to any particular cosmetic features, prefer to adorn themselves with religious iconography, and embellish their appearance with whites, greys and silver tones.
