Lucerna Character in Ruins of the Regalia | World Anvil

Lucerna

Goddess Lucerna

Lady of Light, Matron of the Heavens, the Hidden Flame, Archiprima, High Discipline, the Ord-Mother, Lady Censurae, She Who Waits, the Fire-keeper, the Enkindler, the Grey Lady and more, Lucernia is the goddess of duty, of discipline, of self-mastery and patience, who preserves the flames of the empire as beacons that hold back the dark of the world untamed.   Lucerna is a Lawful Good Goddess associated with Fire and with Order, representing the discipline and resolve to balance destruction against creation, and force conflict and chaos into more constructive ends. Her followers today work to restore Regal order to a broken world, emphasising the necessity of cohesion and community in rekindling a lost age, and restoring a force of good that the world is in sore need of; the Celestial Lattice.   Lucerna envisons a perfect and harmonic coexistence, whereby all things have a place and purpose within the great order of the world. The collapse of the Regalia is said to be a work of great evil that tore apart Lucerna’s great work, undoing much of what had been done and smothering the flame of enlightenment.   Silver is the metal of Lucerna and Her colour also, though grey is likewise pleasing. Her jewel is peridot. Few natural creatures are associated with Lucerna, such as the osprey and the honeybee, but she is famous for her association with the phoenix, or firebird, an avian creature formed or wreathed in enchanted flame, who is said to be able to sense evil and ill will.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Born from the hopes, beliefs and fears of the mortals and men of the Sursrinth Plains in prehistoric times, Lucerna was known first as the Firekeeper, and it was Her role as matron and mother to guard the hearth and unite the people and the tribes into a cohesive society.   Though loved and valued, Her power was fitful, and limited to the clanfires of the scattered tribes, and it paled in comparison to the god of death, and the god of fate.
