Clementia Character in Ruins of the Regalia | World Anvil

Clementia

The Watcher on the Wall, the Voice of the People, Logos, the Mother of Mercy, Architect, Lady Artifex, the Regal Hand, High Diligence, Polyolbos, Lady of the Threshold, Vigilance, the Bastion, Mistress of the Keys, Mother Telleris and more, the Lady Clementia is the steward that nurtures the common folk, the hand that guides the highborn, and the industry that keeps the heart of a community strong and healthy.   Associated with all aspects of civilisation, be it industry, construction, infrastructure, trade, culture or public order, the Mother of Mercy is the embodiment of all that it is to form a city, and to be an empire. Clementia holds the sphere of Civilisation, and has existed since the Doom of Abishal, when the roaming tribes were forced to settle within much reduced territories.   Clementia's teachings demand stewardship of a community from each person within it, advocating for civic duty and community-mindedness among every citizen, which keeps cities and towns relatively secure, clean, and safe.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The Seal of Libram, resembling a pillar-flanked door or the pillars common to her temples, is used to sanctify places and objects of public importance, such as state buildings, important trade buildings, vaults, waystones, memorials, books of lore and history, and letters, writs and proclamations. Versions of the Seal customised to each major city exist in major centres of worship, held by high-ranking officials, which is used to certify sensitive or public documents.   Copper is the metal most commonly associated with Clementia, paired with amber or resin in lieu of jewels. Ochre, and orange are colours most commonly employed by Her clergy. Beasts associated with Her are symbols of protective or nurturing elements, including the ram, the lion, the weaverbird and swiftlet, the ant, the donkey and the wolf and according to legend, the commanding androsphinx, to which all men and beasts kneel.

Tenets of Faith

The Word of a Man is Honour. Honour is a Coin. Guard it well, and spend it wisely.   The Word of a People is Law. The Law is a Pact. Uphold it, or find another.   Your City is your Home. Fill it with wealth, and provide for your family.   The Deeds of the Past purchased your future. Remember well the prices paid by those gone before.
