Aevitas

Deity Aevitas

The Dancer of the Spheres

Great Aevitas, Dancer of the Spheres, Axis, the Green Mother, the Paneraecarnum, the Great Wheel, Kalendaemon, the Lady Everafter, the Eternity, the Year-Mother and many more epithets follow the aloof Aevitas, Goddess of Time and of Life, who represents the inevitability of time, life and growth, the distant personification of the future, and the incomprehensibly complicated accumulation of individual moments into a lifetime.   Aevitas is a Goddess of mystery, practicality, and foresight, whose adherents attempt to observe in totality as they track the movement of the sun, moon, celestial bodies, the passage of time, the passing of seasons, and the lives of plants and common animals. While observant, Her devotees try to absorb all of this information holistically, hoping to gain personal insights into their lives, their Goddess and the function of the world.

Divine Portfolios

Aevitas bears the weight of the portfolios of Life and Time, which distances Her from interacting much with Her followers, or with other deities, as She instead dedicates Her efforts into perfecting each movement, embracing each moment, and extending the fullness of life ad infinitum.

Associations

Aevitas does not have a sacred metal or colour, but does hold opals in high regard. Her bird, the different kinds of migratory hoopoe, are tracked as messengers or observers, and her animals, the butterfly and the cicada, are held in uncertain but similar esteem. Mythically, the most powerful beasts of Aevitas are the gynosphinx, creatures with enormous wings, the bodies of lions and the faces of wild women who can look through time.   She is served by her angelic attendants, the Herae Herae.

Divine Domains

Lawful Neutral.   Time, Life, Nature, Change.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The Seal of Karion is the icon of Aevitas, used by her followers to represent the mutable perspectives and the unrealised mysteries of the universe, which they meditate upon frequently. The mark of Karion, etched or woven into all sorts of otherwise secular designs, denotes reflection, complexity and mystery, used to bless almost any location that the faithful feel is conducive to thoughts and experiences, such as a fountain in a quiet plaza, or is worthy of more detailed exploration, such as a hard-to-reach ledge with a marvelous view of the countryside.   Aevitas does not have a sacred metal or colour, but does hold opals in high regard.
