Revival Spells in Rubicon

The nature of death and undeath is a bit different in this campaign. I want to make sure you all are aware of how this affects standard spells like Revivify or Animate Dead or anything like that.

Spells dealing with Mindless Undead

Any spell that creates, summons, or builds an undead creature that is largely mindless, has no memory of any previous life, and no soul of its own, is unchanged. This includes spells like Animate Dead, Summon Undead, Danse Macabre, Create Undead, and Finger of Death.

Spells dealing with Actual Revival

Any spell that restores a creature to life in a way that keeps their memories or soul will be changed for this campaign. This includes Speak with Dead, Raise Dead, Reincarnate, Ressurection, and True Ressurection. The details of each change will be listed below:

Revivify

There will be no changes to Revivify, as it already accounts for old age. Here's the link to the spell: Revivify

Speak with Dead

Since Souls are supposed to go elsewhere for the most part, I don't want the memories to reside with the corpse of a dead creature. I also don't want to butcher the purpose of the spell, so here's my replacement: Speak with Dead will be replaced by the following spell, Conjure Soul Coin.

  Conjure Soul Coin
3rd-level necromancy

Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 10 feet
Components: V, S, M (a single coin of any value, which the spell consumes)
Duration: 10 minutes

Target a corpse or group of corpses within range. If their soul matter exists somewhere in the three planes and has not been consumed (used up in any way or destroyed), the coin used in the casting of this spell is transformed into a soul coin containing the corpse's soul matter. If you choose to target a group of corpses, the spell will select one at random if any are available. If no soul matter is available to create a soul coin, the spell fails and you do not expend a spell slot casting the spell.
A creature does not suffer the disadvantage to attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws while holding a coin summoned by this spell. The coin has three charges like normal, but any creature holding the coin may only use the Query option.
The coin lasts for ten minutes or until the charges have been spent, and then the coin disappears. The soul matter returns to where it was pulled from and cannot be targetted by this spell again for 10 days.

Raise Dead

Small change to Raise Dead - The spell fails if the target died of old age OR if their soul matter has been consumed (used up in any way or destroyed). Here's the link to the original spell: Raise Dead

Reincarnate

Small change to Reincarnate - The spell fails if the target died of old age OR if their soul matter has been consumed (used up in any way or destroyed), but no longer requires the soul to be willing. Here's the link to the original spell: Reincarnate

Resurrection

Mostly unchanged, with a world-specific alteration: The spell now requires one unit of Moderate soul matter being to cast. It does not need the original soul matter of the specific target creature; the spell will re-write the soul matter used in the casting to mirror the original creature. Ship of Theseus I guess. Here's the link to the original spell: Resurrection

True Resurrection

True resurrection has the same changes as Resurrection; The spell now requires one unit of Moderate soul matter to cast. It does not need the original soul matter of the specific target creature; the spell will re-write the soul matter used in the casting to mirror the original creature. Here's the link to the original spell: True Resurrection

Soul Cage

The spell Soul Cage will gain an additional feature: The soul trapped within counts as a unit of soul matter equivalent to their CR and sentience; if used in soul shaping or as a material component in a spell, all remaining uses of the Soul Cage expire and the spell ends. It can also be used as a target for the spell Conjure Soul Coin, after which the soul returns to the cage and expends one of it's six uses. Here's the link to the original spell: Soul Cage
