Eyes of Rubicon
The Eyes of Rubicon are ancient relics found in Rubicon that have deep connections forged between one of the outer planes. It is unclear how exactly the Right Eye came to be, but many claim that Elohim themself, Heaven's central deity, conjured it into existence using native Rubiconian power. The same is true for the Left Eye; many claim that Lucifer, Hell's central deity, employed the same strategy as Elohim. The full truth behind their creation is unknown, but it is rumored that the greater deities of each outer plane, created the Eyes individually using something native to Rubicon.
Few have laid eyes on an Eye of Rubicon, and even fewer understand their true nature. It is known that the eyes have the ability to seek out those who are worthy, and therefore are unable to be kept under constant watch or guard by any one group. Because of this, witches and sages, those tasked with protecting the eyes, must routinely seek out those that are worthy to keep track of the relics and ensure their safety.
Several legends and myths surround the potential behind the Eyes of Rubicon. Some say they allow their wielders to summon powerful creatures from across the planes, some say they grant their wielders secret or esoteric knowledge from the greater deities themselves. There are rumors of what were to happen if both eyes were wielded by one person; a hopeful few believe it may be the key to bringing about the creation of a new deity, one to rule over Rubicon itself. Some believe this power will only bring destruction, and warn that this very feat is what brought about mortality in the first place. None of these stories have any serious backing, but they are widespread rumors nonetheless.
