Salvie
The beaches in the south of the eastern continent are littered with foreign artifacts from across the ocean. The people who create these artifacts have never been found, as that land is remote and virtually unexplored to the inhabitants of the east. Therefore, these artifacts are the only information known about those across the sea. A lot of it is just driftwood, but occasionally there are more interesting things, such as tools, clothing, or discarded food.
The Salvians have decided to keep the beaches open to the public, with a “take what you find” policy in place. Some people scour the beaches regularly to find artifacts they can sell to researchers. The only regulation is that the wildlife is left unharmed - a policy put in place to protect the Carrier Sea Turtles.
Because of the nature of this information, there are lots of rumors about the people across the sea. These foreigners are called the Otonoos because of a repeated pattern in what looks like a foreign alphabet. The characters don’t match up with familiar letters exactly, but they resemble the letters OTONOO.
Salvie used to be a major tourist location because of its beaches, but since more information has come up regarding mysterious foreign cultures, it has also become an important location for research and museums, as well as a hub for prospecting expeditionary teams. There has been very little success from these teams, but they’re finally starting to create a foothold on a peninsula across the sea.
