Hell Bird

Hell Bird is one of the five mythical Morning Stars. Followers of the Morning Stars believe these beings either created the world or were around for its creation, possibly being the first living beings on the planet. Legend says they are immortal: they age slowly and can only be killed by unnatural causes. The Morning Stars were large, half-human, half-bird hybrids, supposedly around 10-12 feet tall. Each Morning Star brought a gift to humanity, and they were and are worshipped like gods. In the Dawn Era, before today's present states and kingdoms, each of the five Morning Stars ruled over their own lands, and waged constant war against each other.   Hell Bird brought humanity the gift of fire, and trailed flames when he flew. True believers also claim he created Hell, the afterlife where eternal battles are fought. Hell Bird was a fearsome warrior, wielding his legendary staff Darchimos on the battlefield to create incredible feats of fire magic that sent his enemies running. His warriors were said to be happy to die for his cause, as an honorable death in life meant an afterlife full of glorious battle in Hell. Though he had the ability to fly, Hell Bird was thought to have spent most of his time in the Nordican Peninsula in the modern day Caninian Empire, the area of his lands that was consistently the hottest. The catacombs that allegedly house his body and staff are still there to this day.   *Note: There is historical precedence for this legend: Darchim, a powerful fire wizard and king, is known to have lived in this part of the world around two thousand years ago. This may be where the name of the staff and the entire legend of Hell Bird comes from.
