Session 40: Island of Storms

General Summary

The Vandals of Fate begin their search of the island by entering the ruins of the maze before them. It takes about half an hour of walking before they find themselves in a tidal pool. In the center of the tidal pool stands a gargantuan black tree. Xan is not able to recognize this tree so the ratcatchers decide to be cautious and go around the tree giving as much room as possible. However the tree quickly becomes active and begins to charge towards our ratcatchers. The battle is difficult but our Vandals manage to defeat the gargantuan tree. As they search the tidal pools they come across a stash of equipment as well as some glowing red crystals. Fedi decides to take a red crystal when she realizes it gives off a primal magic signature.
Pushing on our Ratcatchers find themselves in a large stalagmite section and in the center stalagmite our Ratcatchers find some green crystals. As Fedi collects another crystal the stalagmites begin to move and are quickly discovered to be a colony of Ropers. Our Vandals take some time in killing them all as they prove to be tough monstrosities to put down. That being said our Vandals are successful in their defeat. Not finding anything more of interest the Vandals move on. After about an hour of backtracking and moving forward our Vandals find themselves at a camp located in a enormous stone hand. The camp itself has been vacant for about 12 hours and there are multiple tracks leading from the camp further into the maze. Fedi also finds a third crystal. A blue one this time around.
Following the tracks the Vandals are led to a large stone platform, on it written in Wildsong is a riddle about returning its eyes. Fedi places the three crystals in the three grooves. This opens up a portal. Our Vandals step through to see where it goes. On the other end they find what can be best described as nature's paradise. The storm that they had been weathering is now gone and now they are met with a forest ahead of them, plains and rolling hills to their right, and a mountain range to their left. Now stepping forward they must learn where this portal has transported them.
