Session 26: The Champion's Games
General Summary
The party spends the night in reflection sharing stories of their backstory amongst each other. The night passes in the very crowded Coenoby, with security being quite heightened as a result. The next morning after breakfast our Ratcatchers check the notice board to see the matchups for the day. They learn they are in the second match of the day at 10th morning bell and they face Arcane Auriga, Badlands Revenge, and Sapphire Squad. Our Ratcatchers spend some time checking their equipment before the five minutes before their match starts the Ratcatchers have a moment to cast any last minute buffs on themselves. With the fight underway Arcane Auriga and Badlands Revenge engage each other, while our Vandals of Fate engage Sapphire Squad. It takes on seconds for our Ratcatchers to defeat the three heavily armored knights before they concentrate their firepower on the southern forces. Our Ratcatchers are quickly victorious and with that they are led back down to the Coenoby. About thirty minutes later Ekyam Smallcask pays a visit. Here he pays our Ratcatchers their share of the winnings. 166 gp each. He then decides to tell our Ratcatchers why he was looking for gladiators. Last year during the last Championship Games his sister went missing. Ekyam has learned that Loris Raknian had taken her as a lover but disappeared shortly afterwards. He wants the Ratcatchers to investigate the Under Arena and if they can the palace of Raknian for any clues as those are the only two places he could not get access to. To reward our Ratcatchers he offers to pay them their entire winnings if they are able to locate her, or at least uncover the fate of his sister. Our Ratcatchers agree. Now they must search the area for clues. It is clear that there is more to Loris Raknian then the public realizes.
