Session 04: "Tomb Stories"
General Summary
The party after resting the night at The Feral Dog head out to the Land Farmstead to lay to rest Alastor Land. Only 10 minutes out of the town of Cragmire they find themselves at 5 dug up graves at a now abandoned farmstead. Our Ratcatchers quickly realize this quick escapade just got much more difficult as Alastor said his curse would be lifted if he was buried with his entire family. The group inspects the area and notices 5 distinct footprints as well as wheelbarrow tracks that head back to the town of Cragmire. They also notice the five footprints go towards the old farmstead building but only 4 leave back towards Cragmire. The party moves in to investigate the farmstead for any clues. Once arrived they are ambushed by an Owlbear a terrifying creature of half owl and half bear. The group manages to kill it while sustaining some wounds in the process. However Fida manages to patch up our Ratcatchers. Na'dia who moves into the building find herself face to face with a baby Owlbear who quickly imprints itself onto Na'dia. It remains to be seen on how tame this wild animal will be. The group also discovers an uneaten arm on it a tattoo. The party realizes this tattoo is tied to the late mine manager named Garavin Vesst who would brand his workers with this tattoo and treat them no better than slaves. He was put out of business by Balabar Smenk a year ago and Garavin passed away shortly after. The party also remembers seeing this tattoo on a Half-Orc named Kullen. He and his mates frequent The Feral Dog in Cragmire.
The party spends the day at The Feral Dog awaiting Kullen and his mates to show up, which they eventually do around 8th bell. The party quickly goes in to interrogate them for the bones. With some threats made they manage to learn they were hired to take the bones to someone named Filge. They do not know his plans as they were not paid to care. This causes Axio to facepalm a bit. However they learn the necromancer Filge is hold up at the Old Observatory here in Cragmire. The group makes their way over to it. However on the way out the door, Kullen gives our Ratcatchers that they should just get their bones and leave things alone.
The party not really heading this warning heads towards the Old Observatory to begin their investigation. Sneaking into the front door and only door they are met with 3 skeletons wielding heavy crossbows. They prove to not be much of a challenge to our Ratcatchers and they begin to move further into the facility. They find a series of bedrooms long empty, as well as an office that looks like it hasn't been used in years. As they open the door into the dining area they are met with a grizzly sight. Around the large wooden dining table sits nine corpses in various stages of decomposition. Each one looks to be apart of a dinner party. The party realizes this Filge character may not quite be right in the head. The quickly slip past and head to the stairs.
