Personal history

Malax was born on the agricultural world of Solaria, he lived a relatively normal life in his early years. However, his family was involved with a minor Chaos cult on the world, and his home was raided by Inquisition Stormtroopers commanded by Inquisitor Gaut. Malax managed to kill three of the stormtroopers, before being knocked unconscious by the Inquisitor himself - thus he became an acolyte at the age of 17.
He worked alongside three other acolytes under Gaut, completing several missions focused around finding tainted artifacts to return safely into the hands of the Inquisition. On one of these expeditions, the three disappeared, never returning to the vessel above. Shortly after, Malax was elevated to the rank of Inquisitor.
Malax would keep up that line of work until he decided to create the Malaxian Dominate, and split off from the Imperium. He would be the main commander of the war until his death on Adur, and the Blood Cult resistance would shatter afterwards. They were only saved by Gaut revealing himself and picking up the pieces.

Luther Malax was a pawn under Gaut, following his word without question. It is safe to assume Malax's morality falls in line with Gaut's.
