Lord Captain Wes Mortz was born on the Vae Haereticon, his father being the captain of the vessel and his mother being a slave in the lower decks of the ship. He was an illegitimate child, and his half brother, Beliasus VII Mortz was to inherit the ship. Wes was outcast to the lower decks with his mother, and constantly monitored to ensure the truth about who his father was never revealed.
For twenty years of his life, Wes Mortz grew up not knowing who his true father was. He simply worked one of the bars in the lower levels of the ship, until an officer left his datapad at his seat. Through this, he learned that Beliasus VI was his father, and immediately went to the bridge of the ship to set the record straight. For this infraction, Wes was thrown in the brig for several months to rot. Wes ensured he got the word far and wide, sparking discontent within the press gangs in the lower levels. He eventually led a revolt against his own father, leaving him to be slaughtered by those he mistreated.
Wes Mortz was elevated to his rightful place as captain, and went through a tumultuous few years learning how to command a ship of this size. Captain Mortz would use the ship has a shipping vessel, taking as many jobs as he could to ferry goods across many systems. This would eventually lead him to be contracted by the government of Konstantinos, to ship minerals away to nearby mining worlds and stations.
In his time contracted by the Konstantinos government, his ship would be requisitioned by a newly-minted Inquisitor, by the name of Lucien. Thus ended his contract with Konstantinos, and he and his ship now serves the Inquisition. In this, he gave himself the rank of Lord Captain, and renamed the ship Vae Haereticon, "The Woe of Heretics"
