Physical Description
Body Features
Stern has two service studs embedded in his forehead, denoting his two centuries of honorable service. Along with that, his left arm and leg have been replaced with cybernetics after an encounter with a Greater Daemon.
Apparel & Accessories
Knight-Captain Stern wears the ornate and traditional armor of the Iron Seraphim - reflecting that of ancient Terran crusaders all those millennia ago. With that, he wields the blade Absolution, supposedly named in honor of what he brings to the enemy after the death of his brother.

Personal history
Corax Stern was born on Pranern Rex, along with his brother Eron Stern in 778.M41 to a family of metalworkers. In the years before a company of Iron Seraphim reached Pranern Rex, the Stern brothers assisted their family in making a living through working in a factory shaping voidship components. Both Corax and Eron were discovered to be of age and genetic potential, and so they were taken as part of recruitment.
The grueling trials of the Iron Seraphim weighed down upon Corax and Eron, but they still pushed forward. Fighting side by side for four years since being taken, the brothers had formed a strong bond. As with normal Iron Seraphim training procedures, the aspirants were placed on the front lines while still not being fully transformed into an Astartes. Both made distinctions during the clean up operations against the splinter of a Tyranid Hive Fleet that ended up in the Roma Sector.
In a battle against daemonic forces on a world outside the sector had Corax inspire and lead a group of Imperial Guardsmen to victory against a far greater foe. Corax split off from his brother during the heat of battle, and Eron was left to lead his own scattered Guardsmen. The two brothers never saw one another again, and Corax was the only one to return to the flagship. Due to his heroism in battle, Stern was elevated to full Astartes.
The loss of his brother took a heavy toll on Stern's mental state, and he began to seclude himself. He only showed himself to his Astartes-brethren to participate in duels while between warzones. Stern was the best duelist on the vessel according to all accounts, but was passed over for promotions due to his anti-social behavior which would compromise leadership ability. It was almost considered to send him on a Crusade of Triumph, knowing he would return and become a highly-skilled Manhunter. This fell through once a massive incursion of Tau appeared in the sector neighboring Roma.
While pushing back the invading forces, Corax Stern took command of his surrounded 2nd War Host when the Captain was blasted to pieces by a railgun. Him and the company survived fifty-four days under constant assault and bombardment by Tau forces until they were able to be broken out by Imperial Guard and Seraphim reinforcements. Stern was immediately promoted to Knight-Captain by the Grand Master and put into command of the cleanup forces.
Recently, the Iron Seraphim 2nd War Host has been called by the Lord Sector of Roma after a terror attack on the capital itself. Some see this as a massive waste of Astartes resources, but they most likely don't know the whole reason of why they are present...

Intellectual Characteristics
Corax Stern adapted quickly to his teachings, and is one of the more intelligent Astartes. Before becoming a Knight-Captain, he was a trained Apothecary of the 5th Company. The medical knowledge has been easily retained to this day, and is put to good use on modern battlefields.
