Molten Fields
The Molten Fields is a scorched and desolate expanse of jagged obsidian, cracked volcanic rock, and slow-moving rivers of molten lava. Unlike many other regions of the Shadowfell, the Molten Fields are bathed in a dim, hellish glow, the light emanating from the blackened magma flows that pulse like veins beneath the surface. The air is filled with the constant scent of sulfur and ash, making breathing difficult without magical protection.
The land itself is unstable, with sudden eruptions of flame and geysers of molten rock bursting forth unpredictably. Strange, partially formed creatures of black glass and embered flesh rise from the lava, seemingly in constant pain, only to collapse back into the ground. Travelers who remain too long in this region report experiencing visions of the past, as if the land itself is reliving forgotten horrors.
The Obsidian Spire – A massive, jagged tower of pure black glass that hums with an unknown energy. Some believe it is the remnants of an ancient fortress, now melted into its current form. The Smoldering Pit – A bottomless chasm from which agonized screams sometimes echo. It is said that the souls of the damned are trapped within. The Furnace Roads – A series of natural rock bridges that stretch across the lava flows, forming a treacherous but navigable path through the region. These paths are known to shift without warning.
