Victor Declan Character in Rodinia | World Anvil

Victor Declan

Appearance
Victor embodies an otherworldly handsomeness that hints at his Fey heritage. His light skin and golden hair, striking on any Human, are complemented by eyes that truly set him apart. They are a crystal blue, yet possess an unusual quality that makes them seem to perpetually glow, especially when Magic courses through him or he communes with his patron. Within their depths, a glint of mischief inherited from his Fey mother dances, a hint of the playful chaos that lingers beneath the surface.   Standing at a solid 5'10", his build is that of a natural athlete, lean and agile. While not imposingly large, he possesses a well-honed physique that speaks of his nimbleness and preparedness for swift movement. Despite his toned frame, there's a certain grace to his movements, a subtle hint at his Fey ancestry that lingers beneath the surface.
Clothing
Victor's attire is a practical blend with a touch of Fey flair. Well-worn traveller's clothes - breeches, shirt, a sturdy vest and a leather belt. Weathered boots hint at a life on the road. A heavy, dark wool cloak shields him from the harsh winds.   Finely-crafted, dark grey scale mail peeks from beneath the cloak, offering protection without sacrificing agility. Matching leggings complete the armour, accented by dark leather for flexibility. Gauntlets, forged from the same dark grey metal as the mail, adorn his hands.   A longsword with a delicate hilt hangs at his hip, its companion, a sheathed parry dagger, rests on the opposite hip. A simple dagger sheathed on the side of his shin for discreet close-quarters work. A folded whip hangs from his belt, its full length easily deployed. Finally, a pact dagger of intriguing design is secured at his lower back.

Full Backstory
Victor wasn't born under a human roof, but within the shimmering marble walls of Dun Alder. His mother, Lyra, a captivating Fey operative with eyes like twilight, met his father, a human merchant, during a rare trade mission to Dun Alder. Their forbidden romance blossomed, resulting in Victor's birth – a child with his father's golden hair and light skin, but with his mother's startling, ethereal blue eyes that glowed faintly with magic.   Life in Dun Alder was a whirlwind of mischievous sprites, dazzling illusions, and endless revelry. Yet, Victor always felt like an outsider. Humans were rare visitors, and the Fae, for all their charm, treated him with a mix of amusement and suspicion. Though his father thrived in the bustling atmosphere, he eventually yearned for his homeland. With a heavy heart, he departed, leaving Victor in Lyra's care.   Lyra, recognizing her son's unique potential – perfectly concealed among humans due to his heritage – saw him as the perfect candidate for the Seelie Court's clandestine operations. She trained him rigorously, honing his combat skills and his mind. Victor became fluent in Common, the language of men, as well as Draconic, Elvish, and Sylvan, the tongues of other races. He learned the intricate codes and passwords used by the Court's agents, mastering the art of disguise and deception. Lyra also instilled in him a strong work ethic and a dry, sardonic wit – a legacy from his human father.   Years passed, and at the age of 20, Victor was ready. Verenestra, the daughter of the Queen of the Seelie Court, recognized the potential Lyra saw in him and offered him a pact. Victor, ever the pragmatist, readily accepted, becoming an official Agent of the Seelie Court.   Now, with his training complete and a spark of magic at his fingertips, Victor heads out into the world of Rodinia, at the age of 23 he heads towards Grunal, drawn by Baron Gilbert's call for "exceptional people." Perhaps this is the opportunity he's been waiting for – a chance to utilise his unique blend of human heritage and Fae training on a real mission.   Victor met his travel companion Ash, in a woodland party in the forest near Dun Alder, a “higher” born Fey, who got bored of her sheltered life, a fellow warlock with a Fey patron. She was fleeing from an arranged marriage with a noble family, Ash and Victor arranged passage from the Southport to anywhere and ended up at Ibini, Victor spent the uneventful journey to Ibini honing his skills to stay sharp.   He practised his combat techniques, keeping his reflexes keen. He also took advantage of the downtime to blend in with his fellow travellers, observing their mannerisms and perfecting his Common tongue. From Ibini, they travelled to Grunal from there as we saw Baron Gilbert's messages looking for “exceptional people”
