Session 4

General Summary

Hordes of ghouls continued to emerge and converged on Mika and Shinobi. While Mika held off the freshly released ghouls, Shinobi killed a couple which had been digging, which lessened the ghoulish influx somewhat.
Meanwhile Argus moved to protect his comrades from the vampire, who suddenly found himself caught in a tight spot. The vampire battled on but struggled to extricate himself and soon succumbed to a combined onslaught.
The gladiators then headed directly to the ghoul pits, to eliminate the diggers before they unearthed any further undead. A short while later the ghoulish menace was no more and the tomb fell silent.
The area was certainly a mess where the ghouls had been digging. It looked like Durin and his team had some hard work ahead of them.
The vampire was ceremoniously beheaded. It had been wearing a brooch of the symbol of House Vae, this was taken as evidence. Searching his remains revealed a bundle of documents. These included a detailed map of this particular area of the necropolis, so it seemed he had deliberately sought this place out, it was not just random chance. There were also historical accounts of a slave revolt that took place in Erelhei-Cinlu approximately 100 years ago. The drow had ruthlessly suppressed it, executing thousands of slaves. This area of the necropolis was a series of vast communal graves.
Upon further reading, you learn that the main ringleader in the slave movement was a drow named Talice. Talice was an ex-member of House Tormtor, expelled from the House and sold into slavery (for a drow, slavery is worse than death) as punishment for a heinous crime – the worship of Tharizdun. It seems she was an early example of the corruption which would eventually ruin House Tormtor.
Talice publicly renounced Tharizdun during her trial. However she secretly continued her forbidden worship. She steadily indoctrinated her fellow slaves, making a suggestion that the Chained God shared their bonds of slavery. With the support of enough fellow slaves it triggered a mass revolution. For a time the slaves ran riot before the drow reacted with overwhelming force and savagely put the revolution down.
There are hints that Talice was goaded on by a relic, which communicated to her and lent some of Tharizdun’s power. It seems this was unknown at the time and it’s suspected it was lost, buried when her corpse was tossed unceremoniously into a mass grave.
It was time to report back to Durin and Overseer Andalg. After that Nex Pervenio could continue to get to know Erelhei-Cinlu and advance some of their other plans and schemes.
