Session 06
General Summary
Our heroes were in the middle of a pitched battle. A raging demon, summoned from the Abyss by
priestesses of the Demon Prince, was roaring and foaming at the mouth, trying to get a hold of
someone to literally rip them limb from limb. Temple guards swarmed around it. In the
background Elan Kanto, priestess of Orcus threw curses and evil prayers into the fray. The party
had backed towards the entrance hall and as they did so they heard a banging on the main temple
doors. The city watch had arrived, lead by Captain Bragger Bondhome. Just in time! But as the
city watch kicked the doors down and poured into the entrance hall, the demon finally succeeded
in grabbing hold of Drax. It took one of each of the dwarf's arms in its own and tried to rip the
stocky warrior in twain. Only a last gasp twist of the dwarf's axe stopped the demon getting full
leverage and succeeding, but the power was enough to dislocate both the dwarf's shoulders and
drop him to the floor. But from the back of the melee came the soothing voice of Jaina and she
reached down and calling upon Pelor's aid she healed the dwarf, bringing him back to
consciousness and knitting his wounds so he was almost good as new.
Seeing this Mistress Kanto screamed in anger and waded into the fight herself, looking to cause
mayhem. However that just put her within reach of Dorian's spells and Elijah's sling. Within
seconds she was felled. Then Jaina called upon the powers of Pelor and blasted the demon with
holy fire. Screaming in agony it seemed to collapse in on itself and was sucked back into the
Abyss from whence it was called. The remaining temple guards dropped their swords and
surrendered.
Dorian entered the temple underbelly and searched it. Here he recovered the Book of Korbus, and
discovered a very obvious shrine to the Demon Prince which was destroyed. Elan Kanto was
interrogated by Bragger and the party. She spilled the beans, telling of Embril Aloustinai's plans.
For her information she was banished. All the other culprits were executed for demonology,
including Bragger Dutenhammer (who Drax beheaded).
Embril Aloustinai was challenged by Bragger Bondhome and Stylus Kant at the Heaven's Gate
Inn where she was staying. Although refuting these claims of demonology she fled the city. Her
evil plans to release Larin Karr, the demon-lich, from his prison were ruined. The party were
thanked for their efforts by Bragger, Stylus and Ranlan Poole - the Governor of Endhome.
Bragger implied that the party were not welcome in the city anymore as trouble seemed to follow
them everywhere. He told them that Lord Kyle of Pembrose, in Quail Valley, was after "violent
adventurers" to help with an issue he had. So the party, feeling slightly aggreived, decided to head
there to see what was up.
The next day Dorian teleported back to the tower of Belzur to return the Book of Korbus. The rest
set out on the long walk through Fools Pass. Half way to the wizard's tower there was a big
ambush by orcs and two ogres. The orcs were from the Skull Crusher tribe who live in the Quail
Valley region. The party were hard pressed. The ogres were clumsy but if they were lucky their
javelins could really hurt you, and they were even more dangerous with the huge trees they used
as clubs. Fortunately one ogre was felled before he reached melee range and as the second ogre
and the orcs closed in, lead by a ferocious orc chieftan, Lynott unleashed the most hideous
sounding roar - the roar only someone with Dragon blood could produce. The orcs wavered and
then the chieftan fled. The rest routed.
Dorian was met and told of the ambush. The party still had a long way to travel through Fool's
Pass but luck was with them and there were no further encounters and the they finally reached
Quail Valley on 1st September 660AR. Ahead in the early autumn sunlight they could see the
village of Pembrose nestled next to the Wren river which was glistening in the evening sun.
Behind the village sprawled the woodlands and hunting grounds of Kyle Manor, home to Lord
Kyle, ruler of the Quail Valley. It was time to find an inn, a hot bath, a good healthy meal and a
few beers...
