Interlude - Riya
General Summary
While in Malea, Riya experienced a series of flashbacks to a previous life. This is common
behaviour amongst devas who have lived and relived countless lifetimes. However these particular
flashbacks related to a shameful period in Riya�s existence, when she had become corrupted and
lived as a rakshasa � the evil reflection of a deva. In these flashbacks, Riya the rakshasa was a
pirate captain who made her home amidst the peaks of gigantic stalagmites rising from an
underground ocean. The pirates included troglodytes, grimlocks, drow and oni amongst their
motley crew, riding giant bats to raid ships which braved the vast underground sea. She witnessed
her own death as a rakshasa, at the hands of dwarven ghosts during an ill-advised attack on what
had turned out to be a lost fleet, returned in undeath.
