The Techs

When the apocalypse hit, there was more that was lost than the lives- more than the homes, the families, the children, the future itself. More than anything what was lost was hope- the one thing that could have saved the world itself. If only there was hope, perhaps somebody could point the world back in some sort of direction. Nowadays, everybody is drifting- wandering on their own, hoping to find something worth living for still. But it's hard to find meaning in a world where everything is meaningless. It can't really be helped at this point, can it?

So, when the fire has died and the ash has settled, who is there left to reignite the flame- to bring warmth and light to a world that is dark and cold? Who is there to roll away the winds, to sweep away the dust, to pick up the pieces when all of the pieces have fallen? Who is there to look for what else is out there worth saving, worth protecting? What inglorious group of bastards could possibly still be drawing breath out there, thinking it a smart idea to hunker down and try to put everything back together bit by bit, molecule by molecule, atom by atom? Who could endure such an endless, meaningless, heart-wrenching task such as this?

Well... that would be the Techs.

Structure

The Techs have a very loose bureaucratic organization based on groups that join in a council/committee fashion. Comprised of multiple clubs and various R&D groups, the Club Center is facilitated by Durango and helps to keep the efforts of all of the Techs within the IQ HQ organized and focused towards multiple collective goals while maintaining the balance and resources distributed between them all.

Public Agenda

The goal of the Techs is to bring the apocalypse back from the brink and to discover new technologies that may aid in ending the apocalypse or allowing the survivors to rebuild in light of it. By studying the Maelstrom carefully, salvaging old technology for research, and by repurposing materials in order to combat its effects, the Techs have made a foothold in Henry Etta's West at IQ HQ, marking their stronghold of knowledge and science, in order to figure out how to better thrive and move forward in light of the apocalypse. Their agenda has long since been inspired by the ruins of old and elaborate academic institutions that once thrived at their holding.

Assets

The main advantage that the Techs have over the rest of the apocalypse is a working power grid, which allows them to do more advanced research and tech development. In addition to this, they also have plenty of weapons, machinery, computers, vehicles, food, fresh water, and other equipment to help vastly improve the quality of life in the apocalypse.

History

The Techs were formed about 25 years ago when the Tigers reclaimed the HQ, formally christened once the power grid was restored five years after they gathered to the ruins. Ever since, they've been accepting entrants who can pass their exams and join their ranks while looking for new ways to get a leg up on the rest of the apocalyptic world around them.
