Rochester Nuclear Sirens

Freestanding structures dotted all over the area that is now the Rocpocalypse, these tall siren towers are remnants of the old worlds wars. Designed to warn inhabitants of incoming danger, specifically nuclear, the distinctive whine of these sirens are a haunting remnant of the threats inhabitants had to face leading up to the death of the old world.
But their duty is not yet done. While many have fallen into disrepair or have been flat out destroyed over the years, plenty still remain in working order to this day and are autonomous. Indeed, it is not unheard of for the distinctive wail to be heard for miles around as sensors pick up trace amounts of radioactive material on the wind. For their grim task continues as these small hints turn into large radiation storms or worse still, and their call of danger still helps those who live in the Rocpocalypse to this very day. It is even said that the sirens will react to increased activity in the maelstrom, and will alert denizens to weather that will be particularly dangerous. And while some will claim that these cases are merely false equivalency, they are still wise enough to head the call of the siren's.
Alas, these siren's are powerful and their wails can be heard for miles, some even say they travel the breadth of the Rocpocalypse. It is a grim reminder of the world they live in and what was destroyed in its terrible birth, and the sounds of distant sirens instills a constant dread in the denizens of the Rocpocalypse.
For there are those who say that when the maelstrom came it signaled the death of the old world. But if the sirens wail is anything to go by, the old world will not go quietly into the night.

Purpose / Function

Old Nuclear Sirens meant to warn citizens of approaching danger. Now used in much the same way, but sensitive to the edlritch maelstrom and weather patterns that stalks the skies.

Alterations

Some have been broken down for parts, while others are deliberately kept in working order. Most however have been left alone.

History

Originally built long before the death of the old war, most of the sirens are part of an updated legacy system that has long outlasted its intended conflict.
