Priest Chaplin

Though very few Pittsmen have had the pleasure of laying eyes on this beast, he is described as being twice the size of any of the other fishmen even with a hunched back. He's a scaly, pale green demon with beady black eyes and a long, pouty, trout mouth. He apparently dresses in a long, black gown and wears a black hat resembling a biretta.
They call him "Chaplin".
The Pittsmen do fear him due to his monstrous size, but their main concern isn't his physical appearance. He has a nasty disposition mixed with his herculean strength. He's reportedly torn innocent people to pieces just for getting too close to his church. One Pittsman recalls watching Chaplin strike one of his own for chanting out of turn, and their head now rests at a slant. It seems that the two things Chaplin treasures most are control of his people, and his mysterious ancient church.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

He is easily twice the size of any fishman and towers above any human. The way he carries himself and the crackly nature of his speech would lead Pittsmen to believe that Chaplin is much older than the other amphibians. But even with his arched back and sickly appearance, this fishman is somehow able to tear limbs off a living person.

Facial Features

No hair that the naked eye can see, but he's got small black eyes, no visible nose, and a big frowned mouth that is similar to a trout's.

He's always the biggest one in any crowd. We can easily tell where he is any time the fishmen are out and about.

He's got a humped back and still manages to tower above his followers.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

No on really knows when he showed up, nor does anyone know how he got here. Ever since the ancient church dropped into Pitts North, the fish people have been coming to the surface and terrorize anyone who gets too close. Some brave enough to study the creatures did notice something: They do, in fact, seem to function under the authority of one particular fellow. He seems to lead the hoards in unintelligible prayers and heads the fishers when they roam the swamp. Chaplin emerged as the fishmen's religious figure and appears to have recently become their distinguished leader.

Nobody knows his past, but for now, he's the head priest at the ancient church above the tunnels.

We speculate that he fought for his position of head priest due to the scars he bears all over his visible, slimy skin.

Motivation

He wants to remain the top dog- er, fish- in his community. Anyone that seems to pose a threat to him or his group are immediately, and quite personally, taken care of.

Though he's seem as a ferocious beast, Pittsmen say that he's definitely taking care of his devoted members. Sometimes they catch them sharing meals and walking peacefully through the marshes. It almost seems like he never wants to fight but is easily triggered into going into full attack mode.

Vices & Personality flaws

Quick to pass judgement, and even quicker to go for the kill. He's very "tear apart now, ask questions later". Everything seems to make him angry. From his followers chanting off-key to humans getting too close to him or his church, he's fast to try put you in your place. Maybe he's sensitive to certain noises? Maybe he has a weak spot somewhere that he doesn't want anyone to find?

A solemn looking fellow, he can be quite charismatic when gargling to his beloved supporters. He is orderly but slower when walking through the marshes, probably because of his old age. When out of the church, he is usually quiet and keeps to himself.

Wealth & Financial state

Chaplin is the head priest of his church and the biggest of the fishmen, putting him at the very top of the pecking order. This therefore makes him the wealthiest creature in his community. The currency of the area is mainly pearls and small jewels, but anything shiny usually goes. The local fishmen donate shiny objects to the church in order to keep it radiant for Chaplin. This keeps him appeased.

So far, nobody has found out where the fishmen come from. We can assume, however, they reproduce as humans do. Either that, or humans succumb to a bizarre new illness that turns you into a deranged fish-beast. Neither of these options seem to be good news

He chants some distinguishable gibberish that Pittsmen say is their language. It's officially known as "gargle". Some even speculate that Chaplin can mumble some human words, not that they'd want to get close enough to him to find out.
