Absolute Moments of Calm

Come, stay awhile. Visit the lobby and enjoy the concession stands. Gander at the high walls and the beautiful scenery. Buy tickets to a show you won't want to miss. For here, at Absolute Moments of Calm, we want you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.   Absolute Moments of Calm is one of, if not, the only working multiplex movie theaters in the post war world. Here the wealthy can escape from the dreary existence of the apocalypse to watch some of the old worlds most pure forms of entertainment. From action movies to romantic comedies, the rich and powerful of the rocpocalypse seek this place out as a way to escape the terror of the world around them. The theater, in an attempt to hold on to the old world's values, still goes through the same motions it did decades before. Ushers still check tickets while smiling faces wait to great you at the concession stand. The smell of popcorn fills the air as well worn machines dispense the same treats and snacks that were staples of the experience, even if some changes had to be made. Indeed while coca-cola may have run out, their is still plenty of home brewed recipes floating around.   What is odd though is how pristine the theater is despite its age. Indeed, here the inhabitants of the multiplex strive to maintain a glimmer of the old world, meticulously clinging on to this fragment of a greater past. Worn paint is replaced, broken glass repaired, hallways mopped and kept clean, the work of the inhabitants of Absolute Moments of Calm strive to keep this place from falling into disrepair. Their tireless effort ensures that here, at least one last glimmering jewel of the old world remains, if only for today.

Demographics

The people who live here practice a egalitarian society, where everyone is expected to shift between roles to make sure that everything runs smoothly.

Government

A direct democracy where everyone votes on both the short term and long term running of the establishment.

Defences

The safety of Absolute Moments of Calm is insured by the wealthy denizens of South Web who utilize its services for their own pleasure. Armed guards constantly patrol the grounds protecting both the workers inside and their wealthy benefactors.

Industry & Trade

They run an authentic old world movie going experience. However most showings are private despite the large theater space due to the nature of their clients. While the theaters may have been built for general audiences, in the Rocpocalypse the general audience doesn't have access to the pre war materials needed to ensure the theaters continued existence. Indeed, playing to the whims of the wealthy clients of South Web gives them access to the tools and materials they need, even if they have to pamper to their clients every whim.

Infrastructure

Absolute Moments of Calm's main feature are the still working cinemas. These theaters show a wide selection of movies from before the death of the old world and provide entertainment to those who can afford it.

Assets

Some of the last working movie theaters and projection equipment left in the Rocpocalypse.

Guilds and Factions

While a singular society, members will commonly form "teams" in charge of running some of the theaters at Absolute Moments of Calm. Currently there exist 12 teams, each of which helps to run and maintain their own theater inside of the multiplex.

History

When the old world died, the workers of the old multiplex kept going about their daily lives. It was a way to keep hope in these dark days, to keep families and friends entertained even when everything else crumbled around them. Most of the current inhabitants of the multiplex are descended from those who saw this place as an escape from the hellscape that was beginning to grow around them. But as South Web evolved around them, so too did the cinema. Its once packed theaters began to empty out to cater to wealthier patrons, relying more and more on rich benefactors to help keep the projectors running and the lights on.
