RoE Short Facts: The Manus Center

A wild ram, long since dead from unfortunate growth in his horn...but the hand around his neck seeps in and forces him to walk again
Did you know: That one of the most interesting aspects of the formation of an Esugrað Plague Infestation Zone, or EPIZ, is the apparent formation of something known as the Manus Hypocenter.   The Manus Hypocenter is the strange phenomena in which the hypocenter or hypocentre (from Ancient Greek ὑπόκεντρον (hupókentron) 'below the center'), also called ground zero or surface zero, which is the point on the Earth's surface directly below a major event such as meteor strike or other such major traumatic events, of an infection forms what appears to be a Hand like formation in the ground or general surface area of a location. This hand-shaped focal point, also known by some as the Manus Point directly starts at the center or the “Palm”. As the infection grows over time, the radius spreads out, fanning out to create “fingers” that stretch across the land.   However, this is not the only time a hand-like marking is present during an infection outbreak. In fact for some odd and quite-frankly unknown reasons, victims of the plague also bear with them a hand-like marking on their flesh, which for a majority believe serves as the focal point of the infection, though this is not always the case. However is often part of the reason why most people refer to victims as: The Snatched.   Because no matter the body distortion, whether it be skin tearing, bones, ripping through skin, hollow eyes, or tentacles where there should not be, the marking is always present, always giving many the impression that this is where the victims were grabbed before they were turned.   However, these markings show up even if the action of grabbing was not involved such as during attacks inflicted by animals who can’t naturally grab like a human/ human-like creature and thus leave a hand impression of the flesh. This apparent mysterious formation often leads to more implications that the rot isn’t all what people tend to think and that simply this is a “god's mark” on the people.   The Hungering One's Touch   Many Religious sects who know of this phenomena, often refer to the Manus Point and the resulting mark as “The Hand of the Devil” or the “Red Mark”, as the area in which the hand spreads often forms a deep crimson red color. In addition, infected creatures may also inhabit these parts, slowly consuming and spreading until they all but replace native flora and fauna with dangerous and frankly disturbing creatures, all bearing with them the same hand-shaped marking on their brutalized flesh.
