Mentys

Mentys Galmot

“Though I have not the eyes to see the injustices of Rispalta, the fire inside me burns with the ones who have been wronged. So long as this flame burns to its own accord, I shall continue to raise my fist against those whose flame has smoldered.
-Mentys
Once a man who had the world at his disposal, now a slave to the embers of the Candlelight Curse, doomed to walk on with the ashes of his Oread brethren. Mentys played with a contract, a contract he could not keep, and now bears his punishment, of loneliness, guilt, and loss of himself.

Mentys' Curse

Mentys carries the Curse of the Candlelight, which replaces the internal organs of his body with a single flame. The flame is a representation of his life, and he can theoretically live forever so long as he keeps the flame lit, but he can no longer enjoy traditional food and can only sustain on wood and coal to keep his flame lit. He can no longer drink any liquid, for the wrong amount could possibly kill him. Lastly, his emotions cause the flame to intensify. To prolong his life, he abandoned his personality of passion and emotion for a calm, cold demeanor.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Very strong, toned, and surprisingly agile for an Oread. One may look upon him and see him to have a Herculean figure, but one would soon see that he has superhuman agility. As one would expect from such a figure, his flexibility is limited, but still somewhat impressive.

Body Features

Tinted jasper skin, with the top of his head and peppered onto his face around his mouth, somewhat transparent, but muddied gemstones of jasper color.

Physical quirks

As he walks, his fists are always clenched, and stature tight and tense.

Special abilities

Through rigorous training and the power he gained through his contract with the Muses, he has been able to have superior strength than most men could ever see. Through the flame that he has in his chest, he can light items on fire.

Apparel & Accessories

He wears very large, loose fitting trousers, that are comfortable for him to fight and give him maximum maneuverability.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Mentys originally fought under the banner of Kraftig in the name of Virlor, starting as a recruit. At age 63, he was visited one of The Muses, who offered him a path to fame, fortune, and status in return for a favor sometime in the future. Hesitant, but interested, the Oread agreed to this agreement, seeing the agreement having little consequence to him.   Soon, he found his rank as well as knowledge raising at an unbelievable rate. Within ten years, he one of the Major Generals of Kraftig and among the next 15 years, he was one of the 15 generals of Kraftig, the only Oread to reach either rank in history. He achieved what he was promised, fame among the people and a sign of achievement for Virlor, enough fortune to rival his Dwarven bretheren, and status of the highest honor. He even found a lover during the time, the Dwarvish priestess of Kols, Anmut, though they could not make their relationship public. Anmut as a woman of the cloth, she was not allowed to have any relationship as is the oath of Kols' clergy. Though he had all of this to his name, he never lost sight of his roots and stayed true to his Oread spirit.   Soon enough, at year 1380, the Muse that made the contract with Mentys returned to him, and gave him a task that made Mentys refuse the contract with him. Due to breaking the contract, the Muse gave him the "Curse of the Candlelight" and condemned him to the Gølinkter Forest to wander around aimlessly. As for the Muse's full revenge, he set upon a series of events that resulted in the seeming revolution Virlir against Kraftig. The seeming revolution against Kraftig caused what was known as the Bloody Paha, or the genocide of the Oreads within the military ranks as well as the takeover of Virlir. The Temple of Kols was thought to have housed Oread refugees and was destroyed without hesitation, which caused the death of Anmut.   Wandering within the same forest for 40 years, Mentys pondered on the promise he broke and wondering what has become of the world upon him, and would not recieve his answer until the end of 1422, when the Architects of Light would come to the forest and show him what has happened to his Oread brethren and of his country. Though during their travels through Kraftig, Mentys struggled to deal with his emotions as he met one of the Muses that took everything away from him and punished not only him, but innocent people for his mistake.

Accomplishments & Achievements

During his youth, he was known for his signature strength as well as tactical mindedness, one of his feats being that he was able to win a battle against 7000 Elves from an ambush against a Kraftigan fort using 1000 dwarves and the rocky areas around the area.

Mental Trauma

He has a crippling phobia of water and other liquids, as he knows that the moment he touches one of them, he will surely die. At the same time, he has yet to forgive himself about his actions, so whenever he hears anything negative towards his homeland and his people, he is driven into an irrational rage.

Taboos

Menyts believes that one should not converse nor interact with the deceased. Leaving them within their death area is the recommended way that he sees someone should go, as they will return back to Earth and give back to nature as they have taken. Such is the tradition of the Oread race.

History

The two of them together have a negative relationship towards each other, but somewhat of a respect toward each other. Aygen can respect Mentys' strength, and Mentys can respect Aygen's intelligence. When Mentys and the Architects of Light went to the island, Aygen picked up Oread bones along the way. Aygen found out the bones belonged to his people, and Aygen gave them to Mentys and told him that it was his duty to bury them. Mentys was not happy about it since he disturbed the Oread resting places, where they should have stayed and not been disturbed. Later on, when the group and Mentys went their own seperate ways, the Architects found a stash of Rinsitinium as well as a manufacturing plant of them composed of Oread bones and bodies. Aygen came up with the idea of taking them for themselves for Luxumbra. Mentys found this out and was furious with all of them, considering whether or not to kill them or not. Mentys decided not to do it though after being talked down by the group and thinking about the oath that Gerwin and him have made.

Relationship Reasoning

A seeming disrespect toward the way of the Oread deceased, and saying that the people that Aygen Ryer Fey Shurman Ultress picked up, he should put to rest.

Commonalities & Shared Interests

They both seek a future where the disasters of Bloody Paha and the genocide of the Oread people would never be repeated. They seek an equal world together.
