Saza

The great port city of Saza is built along a rocky coastline, flanked by two great hills. Though there are ports closer to both Lusia and Colladia, the vast majority of ocean travelers and goods arrive in Saza above all else. The sturdy ground the city is built upon has let it grow continually for hundreds of years, a luxury in Pirenni. The combined cool winds coming down from the mountains and in from the sea make Saza far more comfortable than its neighbors only a few miles inland. Travelers can expect to find nearly any good or luxury for purchase in the many bazaars lining the streets, and an excellent meal in the fish markets by the docks.

Points of interest

  • Dockside Bazaar: Arrivals to the city by sea will immediately spot the Dockside Bazaar, a sprawling, mazelike complex of narrow market streets, tent-covered vendors, fishmongers yelling from their boats, and hundreds of people haggling for the best deals. The arrival of goods from across the World mixed with those from deeper in Pirenni creates an odd mixture of tradewares that can only be found in Saza. Lightningglass from the dunes or lapis jewelry from the mountains that separate Pirenni from Nalendi can be traded for today's catch, Lusian wines, Gordunnese cheeses, or lumber from Erenthill.
  • Archeology Guild: The Archeology Guild is dedicated to the craft of uncovering, studying, and protecting priceless relics from ages past. Though the guild didn't begin in Pirenni, the shifting sands of the region and the stories of buried kingdoms and treasure soon attracted them here. In a stroke of complete luck, the guild soon discovered a burial tomb not far from Saza's walls. The guild hall in Saza soon became the Archeology Guild's headquarters and largest museum, where visitors can see some of the treasures they've uncovered, kept safe from sandstorms and dunes in nice glass containers. The Archeology Guild is constantly looking for new members, whether scholars, navigators, ambitious treasure hunters, or laborers to do the digging. At any given time, they're sponsoring between one and six digsites.
