Magicite
Magicite crystals are formed when liquid magic dries and solidifies. This typically occurs in places where the magic won't be absorbed by a living thing such as a plant, fungus, or animal; or where it won't be washed away by rains or tides. Caverns and tunnels are some of the most common places to find magicite crystals, but they can also be found in deserts, tundras, and on the sides and tops of cliffs. Magicite prospectors make long and dangerous journeys to try and find abundant sources of magicite that can be mined and sold.
The crystals themselves come in a variety of colors; from emerald greens and sapphire blues, to deep crimsons and violets, and even bright silver or gold. They emit a soft glow at all times, the larger the crystal the brighter. When held they feel warm, and if placed close to your ear you can hear a soft hum like distant music.
When broken, a magicite crystal will release the magic contained within in an instant. This is primarily used by scholars, mages, sorcerers, and others to fuel further magical experimentation. If a caster has spent all of their magical energies, they can instantly replenish that power. A scientist studying the effects of magic on a particular being can remain in safety while exposing the being to controlled amounts of magic. Special canons fire magicite bombardments that impact in huge magical explosions.
While all varieties of magicite can restore the spent magical energy of the person who crushed it, research is beginning to show that different colors contribute additional effects when crushed.
