Leilatha
Leilatha was a quiet coastal town until the arena complex was constructed. With a colosseum big enough to hold 15,000 visitors, racing tracks, and plenty of quick dining, it's become the focal point of the city; and the population exploded to meet the new labor demands for tourists. With fine enterainment comes the not-so-fine kind, and Leilatha's proximity to the sea meant quick access for smuggled goods and vices. The city has become the paragon example of Lusian culture: a newly built, shining example of what coin can do, wealthy tourists coming to enjoy the high life, and a criminal element running after-hours entertainment that has more power than the city's nobles.
Other things to do in Leilatha: enjoy a boat tour around the islets off the coast, go on a guided paracera ride outside the city walls, and enjoy plenty of fresh seafood.
Points of interest
- Grand Arena: A monumental work of architecture, the Grand Arena is taken as the direct cause for Leilatha's explosion of population growth. After a decade of construction, the inagural four-day festivities were advertised as far away as Oroi, drawing in so many people that the arena went well over its advertised 15,000 seat capacity. The main building is the colosseum, large enough to fit two-hundred person battles. The racetrack sits adjacent, connected by a covered walkway filled with shops and places to grab a bite between shows. The Arena's weekly shows of gladiatorial combat, beast and chariot racing, dramas and comedies, dancers, poets, musical performances, and mock historical battles draw in thousands of locals and tourists. On special occasions, the arena is flooded to stage naval battles. Why it was built here? The land and labor were cheap.
- The Undermarket: A failed project to build a grand museum and hotel near the center of the city left nothing but some fenced-in holes in the earth, and piles of abandoned materials. The locals took this as an opportunity to build something of their own. This is the Undermarket, a bazaar that appears every nightfall and disappears by morning. Nearly anything you're looking for can be found here, legal or not. Exotic pets, weapons, spellbooks, rare materials, magicite, strange artifacts, and fenced goods line the market rows; separated by pit fights, bizarre street foods, and gambling dens. When the sun begins to rise, the vendors pack up and vanish, leaving an empty construction site once more.
