Dracos
When an immortal dragon sheds its scales, it creates a drake, when a drake sheds its scales it creates dracos. The dracos dream of one day becoming drakes, that might one day become dragons.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Dracos are hunched reptilian humanoids with large tails, jaws, claws, and scales. They quickly (within a year) get to what is considered an adult size, of around 1 meter tall, then slowly continue to grow within 50 years they will be another meter tall, after few hundred years they will be yet another meter tall. They continue growing in this way (with a continuously diminishing rate) indefinitely and do not deteriorate with age.
Despite their physical prowess, their true talent is in the elements. Like a Ci, a Dracos is born infused with a specific element, which greatly effects how they look as follows:
- Air: scales are pale green that are accented with colorful feathers, especially on their tail and spine.
- Cold: scales are pale blue that are either icy or misty.
- Darkness: scales are black and always emitting a shadowy mist.
- Death: scales are white, eyes are deeply sunken in and body is gaunt.
- Earth: scales are brown and stony, with a club tail.
- Electricity: scales are in a range from yellow to violet with sparks of electricity bouncing arcing around them and a spear-like tail.
- Fire: scales are red that are always steaming hot.
- Force: scales are black and white, and their tails are clubbed.
- Life: scales are deep green that are growing moss or mushrooms.
- Light: scales are iridescent that are sparkling, and their tail glows as bright as a torch.
- Mind: scales are purple, and all creatures with minds around them hear a mild gibbering in the back of their minds.
- Water: scales are blue-green and they have webbed claws and a fin tail.
Genetics and Reproduction
Similar to Ci, local elements can change a dracos as it is incubating, but dracos lay eggs which means that environmental effects are much more important. Unlike Ci, a dracos cannot be without an element, a dracos egg stripped of elements will not hatch, and after a while will become inert, but not dead.
