Session 3: Investigating the Warehouse Report

General Summary

Koksillah remained at the temple helping Father Ildris with the care of Gellion's parents and other patients. Amethyst, John, and Ja'Quan spent some time at the temple trying to determine why the purple goo did not seem to affect the parents. Without asking anyone, John emptied one of the bottles of collected goo over a patient's foot! Fortunately, the goo was scraped off before it had any negative effect. Father Ildris prohibited John from any more experiments on his patients!
Ja'quan and the others managed to capture a feral cat and force feed it some of the purple goo. They trapped the cat in a basket and left it in their room while they met with the mayor to discuss their next move. Indicating that they were going to explore the old warehouse, Mayor Trinelli arranged for the streets around the warehouse to be cleared to avoid any civilian casualties. On their way to the warehouse, the group was ambushed by a persistent quasit. Its combination of cause fear, invisibility, poison, and fast healing proved especially frustrating. Luckily a well placed kukri from John ended the quasit's attack. With the poison coursing through Amethyst's body, the trio was forced to return to the temple to seek some healing.
Reinvigorated by the cleric's divine healing, the three adventurers finally arrived at the abandoned warehouse. Letting themselves into the yard, they immediately noticed the blackish-purple strands covering an entire wall and some of the doors of the warehouse. Attempting to gain entry, Amethyst disturbed a swarm of spiders that had been infesting the goo. Unprepared to deal with the swarms, Amethyst and John were prepared to retreat when Ja'quan managed to smash one of his bottles of alcohol on the swarm and ignite it -- charring most of the insects and scattering the rest.
Sneaking in the main doors, they encountered what appeared to be a number of large egg sacs suspended in the goo, three of them empty. Scuttling around the crates were three large centipedes which were quickly dispatched by the heroes. Moving further into the warehouse, Ja'quan was ambushed with a tanglefoot bag by Gellion, the missing apprentice. Glued to the spot he was an easy target for a massive hook fly looking for an easy meal. Fortunately, with John's assistance, he was able to dispatch the ugly insect before it was able to feast on too much of his blood. While John and Ja'quan were dealing with the fly, Amethyst pursued the hiding apprentice. Easily ducking his early attack, Amethyst misjudged the second swing and caught a solid hit from his mace, knocking her immediately unconscious. With a great effort, Ja'quan tore himself free and helped John corner Gellion. Unfortunately, John's uncontrolled enthusiasm for combat resulted in the death of the young apprentice.
As the trio searched the warehouse, they quickly discovered that the purple goo had more vermin hiding in it which would be more than happy to attack them if they hung around. Searching some of the lumps and shapes hidden in the goo, they managed to find the other five missing apprentices, unconscious but alive. Piling the apprentices, and anything else of value they could find, into the wagon, they escaped the deadly warehouse before having to deal with any more overgrown insects.
Mayor Trinelli was thrilled that all of the apprentices had been found, saddened at the death of Gellion, and determined to have her people rid the area of the purple substance. In thanks for rescuing their apprentices, the group have free room and board (but not alcohol!) at the Witch's End for a week, free hot bread for a month, free clothing repairs, a new set of footwear, and limited free healing at the temple. The quartet of heroes retired to the Witch's End for a few days to recover from the various poisons and blood draining they experienced in the old warehouse.
