Alchemy Mechanic
Alchemy is a subset of the Crafting skill. It is the science of mixing ingredients to create powerful concoctions. Each ingredient has two effects, meaning it can be mixed to make two different kinds of concoctions. Or, if you find an exact match, it can make a concoction with two effects. To make a concoction, two ingredients must be mixed together and the mixture must be "finished". To create a concoction, the Alchemy Tools must be in your possession.
Finishing a concoction determines the form it takes. If heat is used as the finisher, the concoction turns into a gas, good for smoke bombs. If liquid or oil is used to finish, the concoction turns into a liquid potion. If the concoction is ground and pressed, then the final result is a paste, good for applying poisons to a arrow tips or daggers.
Depending on the Crafting skill, concoctions can be created at five different levels. Each level has a different modifier that affects the potions strength. Expert or higher level potions require the Master Alchemist feat. See Character Feats for more information.
