Expudamus

The Expudamus is the coming-of-age celebration for Sirbvae that typically takes place on the full moon after a seedling's 15th birthday. The event is therefore shared by many seedlings, and if there is a community of Sirbvae, they will celebrate together. During the expudamus, seedlings prune for the first time.

History

Sirbvae used to be more isolated, bring together more seedlings in one festival and dominating an area with Sirbvae culture. As time progressed, Sirbvae integrated more, especially in cities.  This means that expudamus have changed to typically encompass just the family of a seedling rather than the whole community. While elders may complain that the celebration should include a community, the seedlings themselves typically don't complain.

Execution

The expudamus begins at noon and last into the evening. In the afternoon it is traditional to tell childhood stories off all the seedlings celebrating their expudamus. Elders will also offer their advice and gift the seedlings something related to their advice. This may be a small canteen to advise remaining well hydrated, a book to advise knowledge or a map to advise travel. Parents traditionally gift their seedling an ornamental flower to signify their bachelor status.   As Ghsiar sets, the seedlings return to their homes. If they have older siblings, typically they will assist. If the seedling does not have siblings to assist, friends or parents might also help. While indecision may hold back some seedlings, most have a clear self-vision for their pruning. For those that don't, cultural standards are easy enough to follow. After carefully pruning, seedlings often also wire some branches. Depending on the weather, ornamental or fashionable warm clothes are worn.   After the sun is chased from the sky and Osupa is bright in the sky, the seedlings stand in the light to exhibit their pruning. They are backlit by the moon at first, allowing their silhouette to be admired. Lights are lit and all gathered celebrate and dance.
