Astalet
The Astalet used to rule Esland. They were overthrown by The Board, the country becoming New Esland in the New Esland Revolution. The Astalet family was uncontested as rulers for nearly 1100 years.
After the death of Thi at the beginning of the The Saefi War, the city of Thi was left in disarray. The Formers provided leadership for the city, although even then it is thought their numbers were few. After the loss of Thi, even fewer stayed in the city, perhaps ashamed, perhaps mourning.
In their absence, many made bid for leadership of the city, claiming divinity from Thi or Rhina. The Astalet family, led by Hynaria Astalet, claimed leadership of the city as descendants of the Formers. This is technically true-- as it is true for every person on Rhina. Since it is history, this was a successful claim. However, as the years ticked by, the claim was amended so that the Astalet family was descendant of Edermari .
Structure
The Astalet dynasty has one ruling member of the family. The succession occurs with the retirement of the previous leader, and then the appointed heir takes over. Heirs are appointed, but are typically the oldest child. Sometimes they may be a sibling or grandchild. There were 14 total rulers in the Astalet dynasty.
History
The Astalet dynasty began with taking control of theCity of Thi, however as time progressed, and the city was stabilized, the family set their eyes on further grounds. The early rulers of the Astalet dynasty were ambitious, looking to expand the territory. By the fifth leader, the modern borders of (New) Esland were established. Slowly, the fever for more expansion reduced, and the borders stayed in place. Until finally, the rulers became lax. Many loved the later Astalet rulers, with their low taxes and low involvement. That is of course, until the dragon become the neighboring ruler.
Disbandment
New Esland Revolution. The revolution was short and bloody.
