Ancient: After All, They Have Everything Else

The ancient curse could only be lifted with a potion that called for the tail of a horned lizard. I doubted that such a thing existed beyond the mutated memory of some long ago witch's great-grandmother. If ever there had been such an aberration, if even there still were, where would it be found?

A slice from the left fork of a dragon's tongue? Some old crone in history had actually trampled out in the wet grass to take down an armored lizard from outer space just to slice off the tip of the left fork of its tongue to then slice off a slice of that same predator's gross mouth muscle? The internal sound of my own gagging 'ew' was deafening.

Why did these old spells have to be so grotesque? Couldn't they understand that petrifying slowly from the gaze of some otherworldly winged beast was stressful enough without having to worry about finding ingredients that had become extinct before the flood drowned the unicorns?!

What does it mean, exactly, by the breath of a bat hadden in the very depths of a wild bear's lair? Is it expected to capture the breath in a vial while somehow avoiding the beast's tiny, rabid teeth and flea-ridden fur?

Well, at least I have chameleon scales and a newt's eye on hand. That's a solid start. I'll check Amazon for the rest.
