Yawron Guardian

The protector of Yawron - a member of the Rosato family, who gains most of their power from a magical stone - the Rosato Amber. The Yawron Guardian defends Yawron from the monsters and beasts that come to the city seeking to soothe their bloodlust. The Yawron Guardian is not just one person but a title past down generations, as previously mentioned, of the Rosato family.

Requirements

Only members of the Rosato family have ever been the Yawron Guardian and always there has only been one at a time. Usually, the current Yawron Guardian would have his or her successor, usually their own child or niece or nephew, who'd they train, although there have been situations where a Yawron Guardian has trained their sibling to become their successor. When the Yawron Guardian decides it's time to retire, they appoint their successor as the new Yawron Guardian. The successor automatically becomes the new Yawron Guardian if the one at the time dies.

Appointment

When the Yawron Guardian is ready to retire, they appoint their successor to be the new Yawron Guardian, where for the first few weeks the last Yawron Guardian stays close, watching their successor do their job. There is no big ceremony for people to see since it is quite a private and personal thing.

Duties

The Yawron Guardian is expected to protect Yawron from the sea monsters that come to the city from the Red Sea , keeping an eye on the sea at all times. This, unlike many other professions, is actually voluntary work or at least began as such. With each generation passing what used to be voluntary protection by a kind person has turned into an expected profession.

The Rosato family is paid by the King directly for what the Yawron Guardian does for the city.

History

When the first-ever successful voyage to the Red Sea happened, with 4 sailors coming back, bringing back with them 3 magical and very powerful stones, one of these people was Wirt Rosato. Wirt brought back an orange stone which he named the Rosato Amber. As he experimented with the stone, he learnt that it could imbue him and his weapons, if he was holding any, with magic, which looked like a transparent orange fog or liquid which would surround him and his items. As time passed and monsters from the Red Sea came to Yawron, Wirt, using the Rosato Amber, attacked one of these monsters and learnt that it was especially good against them. He, knowing that he was much more powerful now, specifically against the creatures of the Red Sea, chose to set up his home on the southern island of Yawron, which would be the closest to the sea. There, he stayed and watched and eliminated any monsters which would come to attack Yawron. As he got older, he taught his children how to use the Rosato Amber, creating a long-lasting protector role for Yawron, which has lasted until modern day.
