Red Sea

One of the most dangerous places in all of Rexweld, at least on the Material Plane that is. The Red Sea is a large body of water in the south-east Elgidth waters. It is located to the east of Malesuray and to the South of Yawron. The Red Sea is quite infamous, having a survival rate of less than a percent. Anyone who sails there loses their life as the weather is disastrous, the monsters very much are active and quite hungry, and it feels as if the sea itself hates you.

Localized Phenomena

In history, the few people who have been close enough to the Red Sea to see what it holds and have actually survived have stated that the weather and many other parts of the waters make no sense. One of the most common of these rumours is that it rains a red liquid, thought to be blood. There are also rumours of their existing a giant warpool which swallows up and ships that come near.
Monsters from the Red Sea frequently head towards Yawron, most probably, in hopes of finding themselves something weak to eat. Almost all of these monsters are slain by the Yawron Guardian.

History

For as long as storytellers remember, the Red Sea has been an awful place not meant for sailing, but every year, many still head out in hopes of finding themselves riches or head ouT in hopes of unravelling the mystery that is the Red Sea. The adventurers who head to the Red Sea in seek of treasure often do so after hearing about the successful sail to an island in the Red Sea done by Yawron sailors. And when the word successful is used, it means that from the big ship of over 30 men, only 4 came back in a small, half-broken boat that they had taken along. What they brought back is said to have been worth it though. The brave sailors brought back 3 precious stones with much magical power - an orange glowing translucent stone, which was called the Rosato Amber after the sailor who found it - Wirt Rosato; a moonstone gem, adequately just referred to as the Moons Stone, found by Gregory, a man having had no last name, who chose the name Moonstone since that had been his life's biggest accomplishment. And the third gem - a sapphire, which was found by Beatrice Bluebird, who named the gem - Sleepy Sapphire. Each of these stones were and still are rumoured to hold great power, which makes naive sailors wish to go to the Red Sea to get their own treasure.
Not much is known about the 4th surviving sailor, except for the fact that they existed and did survive. It is common belief that there were truly only 3 stones and not a fourth one for him, which make people think that he might have become jealous of his fellow sailors, having perhaps attacked them and gotten killed, although that is just a rumour.

Red Sea Monsters

The Red Sea has been rumoured to hold many dangerous monsters, and most Yawrens would just outright confirm that fact. Basically, all of these monsters are aquatic, although there have been some who've seemed to fair better on land. Most are some kind of fish, although giant ones, not the kind you buy at a common market. They seem to have evolved into monsters meant for terrorizing sea-side villages as their teeth are much sharper, much more many; their scales are tougher and overall their senses are much more heightened, specifically for detecting blood.
