Human

Yeah, yeah. Humans are boring, humans die too fast, whatever. Heard it all before. Sure we might not have some of the crazy abilities all other like what, 20 races of the planet have? But we're like the uh, sticky glue that keeps everyone together. Ya know.
--Edwina Armstrong, Adventurer
Humans are the most populous race of the land. They build and maintain grand cities of technological wonder, and their population is widespread-- you’ll find humans just about anywhere, from the frigid north of Kaamos to the sweltering volcanoes of Zaman-- each with unique cultural and physiological differences. Their hair and skin range from dusky to fair, and their eyes are blue-green to brown. The largest human population is found on Eterna: Naturally where many paths cross in the centre of the continent, many travelling humans have settled. The founders and royal family of Eterna are all human, thus Eterna is considered the ‘Human Province’ by a few. Nobody’s quite sure what made humans so persistent despite their short lifespans. Unlike elves or dwarves who can assign a long term role to a single person over several hundred years, humans form clans and societies to fill these roles over centuries instead. Perhaps this fundamental need to adapt, intermingle and cooperate with others is what drives them to tremendous feats despite all odds. (And maybe it’s also how they’ve managed to sire several half-human hybrid races over the millenia. Oh my.)

Naming Traditions

Humans generally take the naming traditions of their resident country and culture, often borrowed from traits of other races.   Eternan humans have fanciful multi-syllable names similar to those of City Gnomes:
Abernathy Wilde, Rowena Hawthorne, Fitzwilliam Inglebert, Reginald Oscar.
Kaamosi names stem from a offshoot mutation of ancient Dwarvish words.
Alisa Tammi, Eva Kuusela, Olavi Lehtonen, Artturi Kanerva.
Zamanese humans come from a cultural mish-mash of desert continents, and tend to borrow simpler names than their Eternan cousins.
Blythe Turner, Karyn O’Connor, Angus Ryan, Bruce Cassidy.
Inishians borrow linguistic traits from the Dragonborn and Tabaxi who live there, coupled with surnames from geography or nature.
Chiaki Mori, Haruka Ogura, Hideaki Yamada, Takumi Suzuki.   These are just within Galoria; humans from other countries and continents take names of those cultures.

Human Impressions

When seen positively: Humans are a persistent, tolerant, hardworking and adventurous folk known for building communities out of nothing and daring to break traditional molds. Their widespread cultures and legacy are a momentous achievement despite their short lives.   When seen negatively: Humans are a blight. A fast-breeding race who spread everywhere and get their fingers in other people’s business, too short-lived to care for consequence.
