Potential New Movement Rules

Let's discuss this...
  • Primary Move = your full movement Rating
  • Secondary Move = half of your movement Rating
  • Singular Move = 1.5 times your movement (current sprint). You can only make one 45 degree turn
  • Additional rules:
  • You do not have to move in your previous turn
  • Sprinter Talent = can move one category better. For example you can move primary and use your Singular move amount. If you do a singular move you double your movement.

If movement is fine, I don't see what problem you're trying to solve.

I like what Danny proposed. A lot of my speeds are sub-optimal, especially if I wear a lot of armor. Liberalizing the categories by going up a notch solves that with a minimum of fuss, and only requires a small textual edit to the character sheet. No extra rules to remember.

It more movement and takes the rule of having to move the turn before you sprint away. Then gives character with the sprinter feat even more movement to compensate.

I like this alot. I think it will make combat faster. Also it will give us more options on what we can do and effect in a combat. More movement means more places I can get to help out not just the closest fight.

Will a singular movement still cause fatigue?

I think it won't, but I can't remember what we came up with. Tracking a .1 seems a little nitpicky to me, just like tracking a .1 fatigue per shield use. It makes logical sense, but do we really need it?

i concur..and i like the new movement rules...and i like sprinter! now how do we train talents!!

Looks good to me. Giving the sprinter double movement is good. Jael is a sprinter.

Are we ready to implement this (or at least try it out). I am still concerned that we need to walk through all of the talents to see what impact it might have.   I also think we need to change the disadvantage to firing at a moving target to either 5 or 6 inches of movement.

Maybe we do a fake combat? Everyone pick a character that might get advantages with. Ganges.

We can do that. I would pick characters that might break the system. I still think we need to walk through the talents and anything else before we do that.

I went through my characters to see what they would have to do to get the disadvantage die when being shot at under the old rules, and all of them had to do either a primary move or a singular move. To be as consistent as possible with the new rule, I think we should require a 6" move to get the DisAdv die, not 5". The 6" move guy had to use a singular before, so he's still getting a bonus.

    Affected Talents:
  • Bull Rush - Can disrupt an opponent a few inches further away
  • Combat Expertise - Can move a little further and still get a primary attack
  • Dodge on the Run - You get a few extra inches on your move, to go with your Dodge
  • Fleet-footed - A few extra inches on your singular move. Other characters get a little of this with the new rule
  • Hard Charger - Either gets more movement, or an extra action
  • Run and Gun - Gains a few inches before or after the shot
  • Shot on the Run - Ditto
  • Sprinter - Big Winner
  • Missile talents lose a little power, because shooter will get fewer rounds to fire   Did I miss any?

Looks thorough to me...not sure if complete or not, but good enough to make a judgment call on whether this is the right way to go.. This is definitely going to reduce the effectiveness of missile combat, unless its in support (ie you have a jaegar or castiel in the background with folks in melee.

    Any follow thoughts on this?
    Wed, Aug 23rd 2023 02:52

I think we could play it out in a test scenario.
    Wed, Aug 23rd 2023 02:57

Lets test it on the yelgri encounter :)
    Wed, Aug 23rd 2023 03:47

Let’s test it at the upcoming battle at the dream pool.
