Holter and Napoleon decided they would be the 2 to sneak into the slaver's base and into their cave to get a better look at the obelisk. Before heading down, Esperanza gave both Holter and Napoleon a couple of tattoos to give them better protection against bad luck as well as some improvement to their initial usage of their weapons.
Holter and Napoleon snuck to the Southeast corner of the slaver's camp and attempted to stealthily climb over the palisade to enter the camp unseen. Both of them would have failed at completing this simple, first task if not for the tattoo that Esperanza had given them. From there, Holter and Napoleon snuck through the camp and into the cave. Upon first entering the cave, they heard a clanging sound coming from deep within the cave. They continued to move stealthily until they came across 2 people who were seemingly guarding the cave and/or the obelisk - one was tending to a fire while the other slept. Holter fired his short bow at the awake guard and, with the help of Esperanza's other tattoo, killed the guard in 1 shot. The attack was so swift, and the other guard was so deeply asleep, that the 2nd guard didn't even wake up. Napoleon quickly moved in and killed the poor, defenseless, sleeping 2nd guard. On the guards, they found 33 pennies and not much else.
Holter and Napoleon moved to study the obelisk next. No additional symbols or runes were found. However, they got the sense that this obelisk was moved in here some what recently (at least, relative to how old the cave was) - possibly in the last ~30 years. Holter used a magical item that he has on him to check if there was anything magical about the obelisk. The obelisk was not magical in any way, however Holter did pick up 2 separate magical items in the slaver's camp - 1 in the western-most building and 1 in the middle building. At a loss for any further ideas and with a sense of urgency to leave, Holter and Napoleon snuck out of the camp to leave. In Napoleon's final movement to get over the wall and escape, he made a considerable amount of noise - likely enough to arouse suspicion. Neither Holter nor Napoleon stopped to see if any guards were alerted and, instead, got out of the camp as fast as possible after that. The slavers may be onto us, though, and try to follow us soon.
