Tinglund

"There was a time when the north horrors didn't haunt our nightmares and threaten our lives. A time when the younger were the future, rather than meat in the grinder and killers for hire. Aye indeed there was a time past where we lived and loved as the lord's blessed."
  • Eterna Storyteller, before an audience of mercenaries and merchants.
  • Geography

Tinglund officially begins five hundred miles north of The Eternal City, past The Shield Mountains.  It is an immense region covering a large section of the continent. Scholars assume it may even stretch into worlds end. Despite a majority of the contienent being uncharted, the region closet the Eternal City is meticulously mapped by The Eternal Host.

    Hablund:

Ranging from Hope's Pass through the Shield Mountain's foothills to The river of Gerald's Folly and The Port of Lasharbor The Hablund is a harsh yet habitable tundra and boreal forest. While much of its fertility has dwindled due to decades of conflict with the Blight, it retains much of its aridable land, livestock, and trade value. The residual corruption in this region is negligible disposing it to the Eternal Host's primary staging area.
The foothills transition into vast western plains, scattered forests, and eastern swamps. These extend until the river, which leads to Herod Bay, the last natural harbor on the Western Continent.

    Conserroa:

Past Gerald's Folly the fields and frozen tundra of Conserroa extends into the distance. This vast region bares a similar temperament to hablund, but suffers from extreme weather and wildlife, due to the rampant corruption. The frigid region is entry exposed to Blighted Hordes and Corrupted Marauders of the north.  Most regions are rendered inhabitable for permenate settlements, but few hardy bands were able to establish communities near the forests of Helfi Pass.

Helfi Pass is the bastion of relative purity in the maisma of decay that is Conserroa. Situated near some shallow canyons, the natural terrain allowed the local fauna to withstand the encroaching blight.

    Ecosystem

    Native and Natural Ecosystems:

The Ecosystems like that of Hablund are standard northern variants. Larger predators, massive bugs, and brutal weather conditions produced hardy stock. Most of the southern habitat is populated with is main grazing animals Bison and its common predators, bears and wolves.  The rivers are home to Salmon and Tuna, a human delicacy, often larger in size, because of residual corruption.

    Blighted Ecosystems:

Ecosystems that are corrupted by the dreaded blight are often parodies of nature. Innocent grazers turn into brutal killers, Salmon become bloated with venom, humans turn and warp into brutal savages, bear and wolves slaughter themselves into mounds of flesh. Trees turn cavernous, lakes boil with acid, and all number of unforeseen effects ripple throughout the land. Those unaffected by this poison are hunted or driven into the corners of the region by their corrupted counter parts. Only the largest and strongest tend to stand candles versus their transformed cousins.

    Ecosystem Cycles

This region is marked by harsh long winters and brief mild summers.

    Localized Phenomena

    The Blight:

Hailing from the massive quantities of Godting and the abominations of the far north, the blight is an all spreading corruption. Transforming wildlife and changing lands. The Blight spreads during a Blighted Host's invasion or in areas of high death and decay. Some Eterna Scholars theorize that it is in relation to Godting, but that is pure speculation.

    Natural Resources

While the mineral and material wealth of the Tinglund is impressive in its own right, The abundunce of Godting, the magical fuel source for the Eternal Foundries is the primary commodity in the region. Found in both dead abominations and mineral deposits the material is deadly if not valuable to extract.

    History

    Pre-Blighted Invasion:

The North was colonized by humans during the Era of Recovery, after The War of Reclamation. Approximately five hundred years before common era, the land was described as a harsh yet livable region. The establishment of Lasharbor and many local villages occurred during this period.

    The First Blight War:

The First Blighted Invasion erupted two hundred years BCE, when the Rowan Mercenary Family, then the Rowan Kingdom sent expositions north to mine recently discovered caches of Godting. The Godting Rush started well, with thousands of miners sending millions of tons back to the furnaces of the Eternal City. However this luck was short lived.
During the Years prior to the Blight War, entire mining colonies started to disappear. Perplexed by this turn of events, The Rowans sent numerous exhibitions north. These expeditions, lead by Gerald Rowan found little aside abandoned mining towns and scattered belongings. The trouble kicked off after some scouts stumbled upon what appeared to be a gaggle of farmers, standing unclothed in a snow storm. The scouts survived from caution alone after they refused to get close, preferring to call to the horde. This vanguard was the first encounter with corrupted humans. Savage, decaying monsters, that rushed the scouts with reckless abandon.
The war continued for nine years, before the Eternal City sent aid. Legions of warriors marched north to relieve the Rowan Warriors at Gerald's Crossing (Then the Emerald River). They arrived to find an army beset from within and without, as many of the long time Rowan Veterans succumbed to the Blight.
The Battle, while brutal, was decisive. The Rowan Family receiving monetary recompense and honors from the other noble families and the church. The Blighted Host was driven back into the far north.

The Endless Struggle and Second Blighted War:

The period between the first blighted war and the second lasted until 10 years prior to CE. The City traded its mass produced goods for a sea of man power to hold against smaller Blighted Incursions. Soldiers rotated for a total of nine years, six in the north, three in recovery. This practice carried for generations, past the Second Blighted War:

    The Second Blighted War:

The Second Blighted War started during the Battle of Helifi Pass, and carries on to modern day. The War started in a similar, if not slower manner to the first, before leading into an initial invasion. However, the enemy changed its tactics, leading to prolonged campaigns for the Soldiers of The Eternal Host
